Modern War Institute - Dr Phillip Karber - Ukraine
« on: 05 May 2018, 22:11:03 »

A ex-US marine and military strategist who has made over 30 trips to Ukraine since 2014 including spending 6 months on the front line. If you sleep sound at night on the basis of NATO military strength compared to Russia, you will less soundly after watching this video. The US, UK and other NATO countries have since 9/11 transformed their armed forces to fight low intensity warfare against terrorists, while neglecting and cutting what would be needed in a confrontation with a major power.

The good news, ex-Soviet Russia military is now a fraction of the size of the old-Soviet forces. The bad news in many areas they are now comparable or ahead of NATO and the West. :o This includes A2D, tanks, artillery, especially EW and integration of drones at company level, data sharing and coordination with mechanized forces & artillery. :( :( :(

This is his latest video lecture he made to cadets at West Point.

The UK was the first country to send instructors to Ukraine to train their army and they have now been joined by the US and other NATO countries. The message that has come back is who is training who? NATO is no doubt massively improving the Ukrainian army and changing their old Soviet structures and tactics to modern NATO ones, but Ukrainian forces are teaching NATO what it is like to fight a hybrid hot war against modern mechanized Russian forces. :y
