Presumably, as it won't be for use on the road, you could get the excise duty back?  ;D

Thanks very much for all the input guys. It's much appreciated.

I spoke to my dad and he saw there was a window open (even thou they said they were going on holiday) and he went round and spoke to them and all is now well.

I'm happy to accept that the woman who berated my dad was having a bad day. If it ever happens again though I will consider the aforementioned petrol bomb 😂

Thanks boys 👍

It's always worth taking a step back and letting things cool down in these situations as people can get completely irrational over fences etc.  ::)

I had a spat with my neighbours over the fence last year which got quite nasty at one point when they got solicitors involved, as they refused to contribute to a new fence.  I did nothing about it and eventually they got contractors in, had the new fence erected and when I offered to pay half they told me that they were very happy with the new fence as it was a big improvement on the old (derelict) fence and they didn't want any money from me.  ::)  ;D

The irony was that all along they insisted that it was my fence and that they couldn't afford to contribute to a new one, but would give me £50 towards bodging up the old one. Tossers!  ::)
