Yes the aircraft-especially the F16-have some awesome thrust but a lot of weight to get moving[inertia] but once off and running-especially with re-heat-then it becomes a whole different ball game.
Loads of extra drag when rolling on wheels at sea level too. Completely different beasts, so comparison is futile. I know which one I'd like a play with, given the chance, mind.
Gliding will never be the same if you did...
Not sure there'd be the same challenge in burning kerosene, TBH. Would be happy to test the theory, though.
I've always fancied the idea of experiencing being in the rear seat of an aircraft getting catapulted off the deck of a carrier and landing back on again.
Me too. I'll be doing something similar in Jockular land next week. at least, it feels like you're trying to land on a carrier deck, but it's the air that's tipping around all over the place and the airfield staying still, apparently, at any rate. Everything's relative.
