excellent choice  :)

I do all our fleet , if at all possible
both front wheels on the crapasso where stupid tight after going to the clutch cowboys (i was too busy to do the clutch, the crapasso  now sits rotting in the corner awaiting the court case result ,soon to be scrapped)
the Zafira which replaced it had front wheel nuts that tight I broke 2 braces.
I have just invested £20  :o in an Aldi windy gun* ,for when i find other "mechanics" incompetence to deal with

* quality item with 3 year warranty  :D

I just went through the process of losing my locking wheel nut key and called a fella who arrived in an hour and had all four locking nuts off in about 15 minutes.

Not much of a deterrent.

Why are you still using locking nuts?

Pointless things just make a job harder.  :-\
So harder to steal !!!!
Completely disagree. They are soft as cheese, garages spin them up to 1,000,000 Nm of torque and are an utter pain to remove.
harder for scum to steal then  ;D
so don't let the garage do work if they don't know how to do up a nut , or find a garage that torque to sensible amount and double check they have and given you the locking adapter back .
No one wants Vauxhall alloys, especially 16/17's the world is now 18/19/20 for popular nickable ones.

16 and 17 inch tyres fit many cars ,even new ones ,and there is a massive market for part worn ,not everyone buys brand new tyres ,alloys sell on ebay etc even 16" (because they fit astra, zafira, etc etc and even have scrap value if mullered being removed during theft.
maybe you have a better class of thieving scumbag near you  :-\, but ,in many parts of the country , a set of 16" alloys with good tyres are worth robbing
won't slow anyone down who really wants them.
won't stop a determined thief, but WILL slow one down, deter them  ;)

You miss understand. Pain for average DIYer to remove, a proper thief would have off in seconds

I still believe Omega alloys are worthless, no one would bother stealing. They would go after BMW Audi etc.

We drive sub £1k bangers, on a good day the whole car is worth £500. So wheels worth sod all!

My tyres on our 3 are all fairly new & stand me about £1500 in total so if I've got them I will use them ,takes me no  time to take them off if needed, all good quality nuts & removal socket so in the end you get what you pay for. There have been thefts of tyres & wheels in this county especially 4x4s.

As I said, wheel lock nuts are a deterrent, in the same way removing the keys from the ignition when your not in the car
yes , a good thief could still steal the car (recovery truck ,hyab etc ) but removing the keys slows them down

thieves are lazy , if we all make it too hard to steal stuff and give harsh sentences then they will not bother stealing

If Omega alloys are "worthless", please post a link to a cheap set , in good condition for my 53 plate CDXi , oh and a set of branded 225 55 r16 cheap , my current ones are Goodyear with only about 1000 miles wear  on them
so to me , worth £500(what they cost) + alloys  ;D

But in reality worth sod all. What they are worth to you is very different from actual worth....

About 6 years ago now, I bought off here, a set of 4 CD spec Omega alloys, complete with specialist Winter tyres. Dunlop Winter Sports fitted, all near brand new.  I paid £120 for all of them.

Also year or two before that, I bought set of 4 unmarked CDX alloys, with Kumho tyres nearly new. Did 40k on them. I paid £90 for those, all 4 including tyres.

Soo... Omega wheels, worthless.  ;)

A quick rummage on Ebay suggests that a set of Vauxhall alloys varies from £80 to £300 depending condition/tyres and that tyres are anything from £25 to retail. Not to mention the total, utter ball ache of having to replace them.

So actually having locking bolts is worth while as a deterrent. And provided you look after them, they are no harder to remove/refit than a normal wheel bolt.

Again with the "worthless" :-\
worthless .....
adjective
having no real value or use.

if mine where nicked , i'd need replacements p.d.q
someone with water leaking through their ceiling  would not be impressed if i said "just waiting for a set of wheels to come up for sale very cheap or free on forums or ebay, should only take weeks or months because omega wheels are worthless"

and why pay £120 and £90 for "worthless" omega wheels  :-\
surely that implies you think they where worth good money

I await links for the free / cheap "worthless" wheels & good tyres  :)

I'm not trying to be an argumentative **** ,
in my opinion , theft prevention is worth doing if you have locks
and the word "worthless" should not be used unless describing something like a b&w crt tv with no value

ebay has omega wheels a plenty , but the sellers all want money  :D ;D

Remind me, when was the last time someone here in the last 10+ years has stated their wheels were stolen?

Not once in this forums life time can I recall, who has had their wheels nicked off their Omega.

How many still own an Omega?

Agreed that if you can't be bothered to torque them properly or look after them then they probably aren't for you...

But they serve a purpose and, if factory supplied, as the Omega ones are, then they are probably a condition of insurance.

Put another way, if someone comes and pinches three*wheels of your drive, do let us know how claiming works for you  ;)

*two from the Omega and one from the Zaf should really screw your week up.

I 100% agree with everything DG said in that post

especially the bit "utter ball ache of having to replace them"
because time sorting out a loss due to theft adds up considerably
traveling to have tyres fitted and ballanced, waiting in for courriers etc and stress

so opinions are split
some think locking wheel nuts are worth the time to re-fit
others think it pointless or even making work
as locking wheel nuts are not covered in the bible/quran etc  I think we are allowed to agree to disagree on the matter  :y

Remind me, when was the last time someone here in the last 10+ years has stated their wheels were stolen?

Not on this forum ,but I had 2 go off an omega A (carlton) around 10 years ago, they didn't even bother to use bricks, just dropped the car on it's discs  :'(
also had trailer wheels robbed about 5 years ago

so, for me , a sore subject

Claim and it will cost you more than you may think, protected no claims on car insurance will still see your premium go up, crime figures will see your home insurance go up and your home value go down

And that presumes that they will even pay out if locking nuts aren't fitted...

Incidentally, I know of one Omega that has had its wheel nuts tampered with in the last six months and it was garaged...

The crappy GM wheelbolts are fine as long as a "professional" doesn't go near them. I mean, FFS, Blackcircles managed to opps up Jag locking wheelbolts, and they are miles more robust than GM ones.

The GM ones don't cope at all with any impact guns, air or battery.  That includes undoing them.
