dipstick tube
« on: 19 November 2018, 20:51:50 »

last Monday the local garage did some work for me & unfortunately they snapped the dipstick. they ordered another & it meant my car wasn't ready until they got one. when it was ready to pick up they told me the dipstick when reading it I was to count the approx. middle of it as full. yesterday I was on the A1 & I noticed a sudden loss of power ( still able to do the speed limit ) anyway I pulled up & I guessed right ,,the turbo charge pipe had pulled off. the makeshift dipstick tube is stopping the charge pipe from fitting right. good news I have managed to get the right one.

I was also wondering, unless you are utterly incompetent how do you snap a dipstick, maybe the clue is in the word.

yesterday I managed to borrow a mates lockup to change the wrong dipstick tube for the right one. what I found is the guy that did the work had really bodged it. he had cut the tube as it entered the sump then stuck loads of silicone around to prevent oil from leaking. it took me 2 hours to get it out. then inserting the new tube was a right pain . the a/c compressor & its mounting had to be removed ( but I wasted a hour before I decided that ) . total time spent was probably near to 5 hours. it was a cow of a job.  :y

Small Claims Court me think ,although as you have now covered up their incompetence may prove difficult to prove.

Some garages really should be closed down >:(
