Most unusual recruiting
« on: 26 August 2006, 10:04:30 »

On my way back from the Passport office in Liverpool yesterday, having left there at 4pm I went straight into the worlds worst traffic jam on the M6. There I was sitting in traffic in my little Gold Corsa when I noticed an Omega going past me.

I wondered if the driver might be any of us, so when I got a chance to get along side him further down the road, I wound down the window and gave him a polite 'beep'. Nice guy looked a bit surprised when this nutter shouted across 'Are you on the Omega owners forum?' What? he must have thought? No. You should be I think I said. OMEGAOWNERS DOT COM, I managed to get out before I was hooted from behind to move along.

You never know I thought. Nice looking Mega with sennie wheels. And a friendly guy. Yep, he'll probably join.

Well, I was gobsmascked when this morning Laidback told me he had. http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1156543005/0#5

So, Is there a prize for the strangest place to recruit new members? I mean, the outside lane of the M6 in rush hour must rank as one of the most unusual! ;D

Anyway, if you get a chance guys, make him feel welcome.

I think I forgot to mention. The pug is gone, gone, gone. Hoooooray!!!!! px'd it for a 2003 Corsa 1.2 Club. Nice little car, drives brilliantly and I am very pleased with it. One owner, 29k, full VX history, 6 months NetworkQ warranty and I got a deal I was happy with.

Simple. The pug was un-sellable without spending about £500 on it. NetworkQ had a car they wanted to get rid of, so did I . It meant that the Corsa cost me £1500 + the pug basically. Remember, the pug was effectively free.

So, I end up with a 2003 Corsa for £1500. I'm happy with that.

Good deal Ron  [smiley=thumbsup.gif]

Only 6 months NetworkQ?

I thought it was 12months as standard?  :-/

Dont forget to get it serviced at vx dealer......so when they phone you to tell you the brake pads wont last to the next service...and need changing...you can say 'fine, go ahead, its in networkq'  ;D

TBH the warranty isn't worth the paper it's written on. It has the wording '.....excluding taxis and driving schools...'

Now, I made it very, very clear to them that is what it will be used for. SO, we'll cross that bridge on Monday when the sales guy is back off holiday.

In any event, it has just been serviced. Next one at 39k or next June. Either way, it will be px'd by then for a brand new one.

They aint touching it otherwise. >:(

Wouldnt worry about it Ron.....We all know what mines used for....so far brake pads/new MAF sensor/new ECU/new radio/cd.....all done under networkq......the dealers dont seem to bother/mind what its been used for  [smiley=thumbsup.gif]

Back to the main subject of the thread again.......................

Having missed the opportunity to enlighten a lorry driver of the existence of the forum when he wound his window down to ask about my S2N car and informed me that he had a nice one of them at home,  >:( (To which I replied I've got two!!), I've had a shot at recruitment.

I've just bought an estate towbar off a bloke in Perth off eBay. So I've asked him if he's still got his Omega, (the fact he's selling the towbar might disqualify this theory!), and if he does he should look us up.

We'll see!!
