right need some new tools in preparation for project LPG and the head gasket on my dads 2.2  what do people reckon on these:

Suppose it depends what your going to use it for - if you really need 300Nm such as wheel bearings then OK but Argos  do one for £15 http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/7013887.htm  and has a decent range - works great for me and at a really good price too

I have the Halfords car creeper and it's superb. Need to get the car a few inches higher but it makes it a lot easier to get underneath.

Watch out for 110v lamps and tools, etc. That last set will need a transformer to run from the mains.

if you go for that torque wrench your going to need another as well as it doesnt start till about 60nm

I have a sealey 8 - 30nm and a draper 25 - 210 nm. Both bought brand new and combnined similar price to the halfords one.

Shop around tunnie theres better than that wrench for less

if you're going for the 2 ton jack, pay the extra couple of quid for the quicklift version ... makes getting the saddle to make contact much quicker  

the 3 ton version is about 50% extra ...

halfrauds TC will get you 20% off most tools (including torque wrenches), as long as they are not already on sale. For example the 150 piece socket/spanner set is normally priced £150, trade is £120 - but it's often on sale at £100 - at which point trade price is still £120 so is actually more than the sale price!!

I have the 3/8" torque wrench which does 8 to 60Nm, then the big 1/2" which does 60 to 300Nm, plus adaptors between the two sizes.

From memory car mechanics mag did a test on car creepers, having looked at the halfrauds one I'd go for that clarke one as if you look at the picture, the base is lower than the castors. The halfords one has the castors fixed to framework which is level with the base - plus I'm pretty sure it was about the same price as the clarke one - although I think it could be folded and used as a seat too, the clarke one can't - depends on your priorities
