dual mass flywheel

Hi everyone,we have a 2000 omega and have taken clutch out only to find out that we have a dual mass flywheel,didnt know about this.First quote is £800 ,bit of a shocker,is there any way of repairing this or changing for an ordinary one cos otherwise its for the chop.Thanks bren.

Is the flywheel faulty then.....

Clutch kit is less than a ton.....pretty much all the manual Omegas use a dual mass flywheel.

Believe so it was making an awful grinding noice and spinning round.

I would seek a good second hand one then....might be worth checking the for sale section on here to see what peopel are breaking at the mo.

Are you saying that the outer part, where the clutch cover bolts onto, is able to turn independantly of the flywheel centre which bolts to the crank?  :o

Best bet would be to get one from a breakers or put a wanted in the bits for sale / wanted section on here. Not the sort of thing you would want to pay postage on though.

yes it does and i have put ad on thanks.what a nightmare this is turning out to be i thought i only had a clutch to replace.

Hi Brenny, where about are you? I've just fitted an engine from a manual car to my auto so I've got the dual mass flywheel that's no good to me. The clutch plate looks quite good too  :) I'm central Scotland, flywheel yours for the taking if you can use it. Weighs a ton so postage might be a bit expensive.

Hi,thanks for the offer am willing to pay for postage and any other expenses if reasonable.Is it out of a 1998cc car and what year was it cos mine is a 2000.I am in Canvey Island,essex.Any idea how much we are looking at.You do not have to send the clutch just the flywheel.Thankyou for helping a lady in distress .Bren.

If you try parcel2go.co.uk they charge £10 plus the VAT for items upto 25kg. Part of DHL and quite reliable [smiley=thumbsup.gif]
