First you need to ensure the system is completely discharged. Preferably this should be done by an aircon specialist. However, if the system is very low on gas, you can release some by using a screwdriver and gently pushing down on the valve core, but you must WEAR GLOVES and you MUST ONLY attempt this on the LOW PRESSURE VALVE, which is the one valve at the back of the engine near the bulkhead. DO NOT attempt this on the high side valve which is located between the rad and aux belt. DON'T light up a ciggie during this operation!!

The compressor: You need to disconnect the pipes which connect to the top of the unit. This is a pig, because you need to use a long extension with a 15mm socket (from memory) and come down from the top of the engine and undo the bolt which holds on the plate which sandwiches the refrigerant pipes on to the compressor. The bolt is hard to see, but the job is manageable. Easier if you have someone underneath guiding the socket on. Thereafter, there are three or four bolts which hold the compressor on. When these are undone, you'll need to rotate the unit by 45 degrees (not sure if that's toward the engine or away from it) and pull it out.

Condensor: You'll have to undo the union that attaches the pipes to the receiver/dryer. Again, it's a plate which sandwiches the pipes together. I think you can then undo the nut adajacent to the high side valve and remove the lot.

Receiver/Dryer: Remove the rad and then undo the bolts securing the unit and lift out.

All the above is based on a 1995 2.5V6. The only thing I haven't actually done is removal of the condensor, so there is a certain amount of inspired guessing there.

Good luck!

Take the radiator out first (two clips either end, a few pipes and wires and it pulls out).

Then release the gas pressure.....be careful, as it expands it gets dam cold.......easiest palce to do this is on the dryer to coolant pipe coupling underneath the battery tray...its a metal plate with a torx through the middle, slacken it until it starts to hiss and then leave it a while.

Then you can get the aircon condenser and dryer out.....there may be a few more bolts left on the condesner but should now be easy to get at.

Cover the aircon connections up after removal so as to protect the dryer unit.
