CCR2006 Help required!
« on: 10 January 2007, 14:16:33 »

I put the CD magazine in this morning and promptly got a magazine error on the mid. The mag will not eject and no cds will load.

Any ideas on how I can get the magazine out or is it a hammer job?

Thanks,

Steve

I ahev had one repaired in the past with this fault, it required a new caddy to be fitted at a cost f about 40-50 quid all in.....

Removal is not easy as it requires disassembly and then you need to manualy operate teh correct motors...

Thanks Mark, I'll have another go at getting it out tonight when I have more time, rush hour was not the best time to be looking at it.

Mark,

Can you let me know where you got the unit repaired, not so much the exact business more the type of place because I think I may be struggling to find anyone suitable locally.

I really want to keep the Bose set up so the next question may be what can be fitted to replace the CCR2006 and retain Bose.

Run down of findings so far -

Took the unit to bits last night and removed the cd cartridge which seemed okay apart from one of the clips that keeps the unit closed when removed from the player having come adrift but once replaced it was okay. It looks as though the problem may lie with the mechanism in the player itself. With the unit on the bench the cartridge fits in no problem and you can manually operate the loading mechanism in all directions but whenever it is re-assembled and hooked up to power the cartridge is either extremely tight and only opens partially or it will not go in at all.

After tinkering for five hours last night I gave up and put the unit back in for the time being, flattened the battery being in and out the car so much and then had to jump start in a howling gale with pouring rain to make things that bit better (had to tie the bonnets down to stop them flipping over the windscreen) but I am now able to strip and re-assemble the cd changer and cartridge blindfold with one hand tied behind my back.

Thanks,

Steve

Just phoned the main dealer and it seems that exchange units can be had for £100 plus vat so it looks like it worthwhile going for one of those.

I use a local 'one man band' repair setup......Harborough Car Audio.

Mark,

Thanks again for your input. Unfortunately most of the audio specialists up here are to big now to be bothered with this type of repair and after a previous experience with Sony that resulted in a strip and inspect cost of £70 to be told that the unit was u/s I am wary of sending back to the manufacturer so I think it will be an exchange unit, at least I'll get a warranty and a unit that is servicable.

Ta,

Recon unit arrived Thursday, ordered on Saturday so a lot quicker than the expected three weeks, fitted and all working again.
