Cracked cylinder heads & cars going up in smoke :o

£1,700 would buy a proper car ::)
Still what do you expect if you put a pissy three pot into a two tonne mumsybus and then turbocharge the nads off it so that the performance improves from non existent to mediocre ;D
-
Just as I predicted .😀😁😂
-
I always had concerns about an ultra small, heavily turbo engine in big cars.
This though kinda suggests manufacturing issue with block itself or poor coolant maintenance :-\

This ties in with http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/index.php?topic=143652.0
I think Ford replaced the header tank as well as doing something with the level sensor. :-\
-
Probably letting coolant get far to low, then overheating. Sensor changed to ensure higher coolant level?

ford forums are saying that a level sensor is not fitted as standard

Sounds like Ford still haven't figured out how to make a decent engine - but that's nothing new, just ask all the people with slipped cylinder liners in Focus STs..

Just like all cars used be like then ..... ::)

The 1l turbo is great in the Fifi and good enough in the Focus, but just too strained in a Mundano.
-
If you want a small engine to perform like a big engine the solution is simple get a big engine.😎
-
Again this is just another way to get lower emissions, well at least on paper.
-
I believe you can also get the same engine in the Connect van[and the Tourneo version of it]but would you really want one?
-
Sounds like a fatal design fault to me in a mummy bus. :o Rug rat transport with no low level coolant sensor, that needs to be manually checked and topped between annual service intervals shouldn't be allowed. ::) After all they have remote tyre pressure sensors now to let them know when they've worn through the canvas and the tyre is flat. :-X

Before tizzy rules the world, we will have an era of small petrol turbos...

Don't forget, that the bonnet is welded shut at the factory, and the owners manual is probably downloaded with the spare wheel and the whole New Car Handover experience is all about connecting the car to your Faceache page.
God forbid someone who has leased a car, then bought it from the leasing company actually checks anything ;D
-
It's quite amazing how many customers turn up at local Ford stealers saying the tpms light is on and asking for it to be looked at and when asked if they've tried putting air in the tyres reply no :o

Yep. I can't wait. Small, Light*, Powerful. Epic engines for kit cars. :D
*- apart from the 1.0 turbo Ford that has an iron block for some reason.
-
Presumably for
longevity cost reasons... Hence the rest of the engine being primarily plastic ;D

If they can all be as fun as my old Renault 5 GT Turbo was, I wouldn't mind that too much ;D

Back in my youth, a couple of lads I knew well had mk1 Uno turbo's.
Went like stink but the ride was horrible :'(
Another lad had a Daihatsu Charade 1ltr turbo which was brilliant in a fizzy sort of way until he did a Mark Bolen and wrapped it around a big tree ::)
He and the tree was okay but the car wasn't ::) :(
-
Every time I see a car of that era (Renault 5, Uno etc) I always wonder just how in the hell I fitted inside one.. ;D
-
A turbocharged Hayabusa lump would make a good kit car engine.

Yes.....and those 28" waist jeans I once had seem to have shrunk. :)

28" .. that's one leg, what did you do with the other one?
