Left field choice, Mr Rog.........Mazda RX8. They are fantastic drivers cars and affordable to boot. :y

Friend of mine picked up a good condition example with reasonable miles for £2k not so long ago - it's his track toy but so far has been refined, reliable and .. ok, far from economical ;D

They're a good buy if you can find one without apex seal issues.

Despite having only 9000 miles under it's wheels the man who bought ours insisted on a hot compression test.  He was so keen to buy that he paid for it himself....(about £100 if memory serves)

Buyers always need to check that the car starts easily from hot. If they don't this can be a sign of low compression.......which can mean death to the rotary engine.

Expect 13 MPG if you boot it. :-\

Some unscrupulous 'Rxers' fit an 'upgraded' starter motor to mask hot starting issues.

MGC anyone?

I seem to recall the MGC being described as a sports car with a tractor engine crammed into it  ;D

Yonks ago I had an Austin Westminster, it had the same engine as the MGC but the Westminster was a huge car. First car I ever did a ton in  :-X. oops I mean could have done a ton in.

That old 3.0 was the Austin 3 ton lorry engine, mate had a A110 Westminster (he's still got it but its fubar ) and said 3 tonner, same donkey although different manifolds and carbs

Perhaps it would help our choice of 'motor' if Mr Rog told us how much he was willing to spend.
£1000
£5000?
£10000?
£25000?
MORE.

I'm guessing that, unlike myself,  'old Rog' isn't short of a few bob. :y
