One rainy night, A diesel spill, One Omega finds said patch of diesel after coming off a roundabout & the result aint a good one. :'( :'( :'( :'(, To say i am not happy is an understatement, This happened nearly 2 weeks ago but only just got around to getting the photos sorted.:'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'(

I know i have posted this before over the years but thought i would try again ;), When my old tractor has been on a long run then try to restart it the following happens,,,,,,I turn the key & it starts OK, Push the gas pedal & nothing happens, Leave it ticking over for 10-15 seconds & the revs move up a little followed by a little jolt then everything is fine again, The Boy did a test on it at high Wycombe & it came up as ' Fuel Temperature Voltage High' & suggested it was the sensor mounted by the Diesel filter, I have now changed that but the problem is still there, I also did a paperclip test today & that comes up with the same  ' 17,,,,Fuel Temperature Voltage High' :'(, This problem has got worse since I removed the viscous fan which is causing the engine to run a tad hotter but even so the engine temp still only reaches 90c, So where is my next port of call to investigate?, Could it be anything to do with the ECU chip settings?. :-\

Omega General Help / Front tyres issue
« on: 26 February 2015, 14:58:53 »
I happened to check my tyres yesterday & found they have been totally slaughtered on the very inside edge :o, So went to get my tracking checked before getting the tyres replaced, They said my tracking was pretty much spot on so must be my camber angle is out, My question is what has caused my camber angle to become so far out?, Also has anyone used one of these?, http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/301272192717?_trksid=p2059210.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
I have checked all ball joints & have found only slight play in a track rod end which i have ordered,
Also is there a "how to" to adjust the camber?.,,,Cheers. :y

General Discussion Area / Fame at last!
« on: 26 December 2014, 16:59:22 »
Seeing as there was sod all on telly I thought I may as well play on the computer, Imagine my surprise when i found not only me working on my mate pug but my Miggy on Google maps :y, I remember seeing their cam car coming round a few years ago & thought it would be a laugh to pretend to hit my mate around the head with the Haynes manual, Unfortunately they took the shot a few seconds too soon!,,,,,,,Oh & Merry Xmas to all by the way ;D.    https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@53.3006562,-1.1038906,3a,75y,17.23h,77.79t/data=!3m4!1e1!3m2!1sHvCSiFxpMEnVuQuaCFPkiQ!2e0!6m1!1e1

Omega General Help / steering idler centre link info please.
« on: 10 July 2014, 21:39:40 »
As I had an advisory on my MOT I thought I would try & get a good 2nd hand one as money is tight & fit it, Anyhow I got one complete with all the track rods etc so have stripped it down for the centre link, The thing is one of the ball joints on it seems to stay in an upright position with no side to side movement but turns freely in its socket but the other will move in all directions like a track rod end would, Are these centre links fitted with two types of ball joint or is one of them knackered?. :-\

I have been having problems with my alarm on & off for about 3 years now, It just goes off when it feels like it when parked up, My old bus does not have a sounder but a horn so it is not that, I have tried disconnecting the stereo also the ultrasonic sensors & the bonnet switch but still no joy, Yesterday I cleaned up every battery connection just in case it was a resistance issue but it still goes off, Also cleaned up the rear glass contacts but it's still going off, I have now had to disconnect the horn again as the neighbours were getting a bit upset, I'm now thinking of changing the alternator out of desperation as I have run out of any other ideas but as it is a pig of a job I thought i'd put it out there in case there is something I haven't thought of.,,,,HELP! :'( :'(

General Discussion Area / Windscreen trim woes.
« on: 22 May 2014, 19:32:50 »
At the beginning of the month I had to get my screen replaced, The guy from Auto Windscreens done an excellent job of it as the old one had so much black goo holding it in it stuck my roof lining to it as well so he had a hell of a job getting it out >:(, Anyhow all has been fine up until Tuesday when i went to go out & found the outer trim had popped out along the top & it had buckled to buggery down the edges :o, Phoned up the fitters who sent the guy back to inspect it today, He has admitted that it must be a crap part & that the sun must have distorted it :o, He says he cant replace just the trim as he reckons the bit the trim clips into is crap as well so will have to put in another screen from a different supplier but cant do it until next Thursday, (which is a bit of a wait if you ask me), Has anyone else had this happen or is it the unlucky alf syndrome rearing it's ugly head once more?. ;D

As title says, Would be useful if somebody going to Wycombe meet has got one they can bring with them, Not sure if a F/L loom is the same or not, perhaps somebody can confirm this?,,,,,Cheers. :y

Tonight I just popped out to the shop & went to start the car to come home & the key wont turn no matter how much I try, This has gone suddenly as it's always been fine,I sprayed in some WD 40 but still no joy :( Obviously I cant get the tumbler out as I cant turn it to the 2nd position, So what is my options to getting this sorted as I cant leave the car where it is overnight,,,,,Cheers.

General Discussion Area / It always happens to me.
« on: 08 October 2013, 16:06:55 »
I decided to change out my water pump, fan belt, rad & thermostat on the old tractor the other day due to a slight cooling issue, Rad came out pretty well as did the water pump, From then on it all went oopsy :'(. Firstly I couldn't get the thermostat bolts undone as they just tried to round off >:(, I then happened to take a glance at the front cross member & it looked a little flakey, So I thought i'd remove the fans to clean up the cross member & give it a blast with stonechip, With a firm tug out came the first fan along with 4 inches of rusty metal attached :o, Then pulled on the second one & that too had a similar sized lump of rusty crud hanging from it >:(., So now I have a new cross member waiting for me to fit when my anger subsides & enthusiasm kicks in once more, My other half says I should scrap the old girl but as the cross member looks pretty easy to do I reckon I should save her (that's the car & not the mrs ;D), Has anybody done one of these before & anything to take into account?. ;)

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Radiator fan switches. TD
« on: 11 August 2013, 18:24:39 »
Ive got a spare radiator that i was going to fit that I bought off another OOFer quite a while ago, The thing is the replacement has 2 rad switches fitted on the right hand side of it, One at the top & one at the bottom whereas mine only has one at the top, Now normally I would just ignore the spare but the thing is the switch mounted on the replacement that fits my wiring (3 pin) is mounted at the bottom, The other switch on it only has 2 contacts, So obviously my questions are why does the replacement have two switches (one for an intercooler fan perhaps which my car dont have?) & should I move the switch with 3 pins like mine to the top position or what difference would it make if I just left it in situ on the bottom, Sorry if this is a bit long winded but hope you get what i'm trying to say :D.

I just wondered if anyone has had issues with pattern headlight units?, Trying to find good original Pre/fl projector units is now getting to be difficult, I know the alloy adjusters are available but one of mine has chewed up the nylon knob thing that the adjustment screw mates up with, I have been offered a couple of these pattern units second hand (but look new) at a good price but as they are already off the car I never got to see if they fitted correctly, So before I commit myself i thought i'd find out if anyone has had problems with these units,,,,,Ta!. :y

Omega General Help / Hot weather & my fault is back!. 2.5TD
« on: 30 July 2013, 23:23:02 »
This is a fault that reared its ugly head last year during the hot weather :(, When she has had a good run on a hot day If turn her off for a few minutes then start her back up I have no accelerator pedal for maybe 30 seconds, Then the engine seems to give a little jolt & then all is back to normal again, Its obviously heat related but other than that i'm stumped :-\, Any suggestions?.
