Title: *WANTED* Abs ecu.
Post by: Tetleysmooth on 02 May 2012, 10:21:29
Once again, not enough posts to put this in the correct section.

It looks like I'm going to need an ABS ecu. My car is an X reg 2000 2.5 cdx.
Has anyone got a reasonably priced one they could post, please?
Thanks.

If it gets desperate I have one but it's still on the car and I really don't have the time to remove it.

If you get an offer in the meantime please take it, if not i'll see how things are for next week.

I really don't know if I need one, to be honest.
Apparently, if the ABS ecu fails, the speedo, rev counter stop working and the power steering becomes heavy.
Have spoken to the previous owner and he had the ecu repaired last year.

The ecu is attached to the ABS pump mate.  Directly below the power steering resevoir, near side of engine bay.  :y

Sadly, in this case, as much use as a used johnny smeared in dogshit I'm afraid ;D

The earlier (mega reliable) ABS 5.1TC and later (not so reliable) ABS 5.3TC are incompatible with each other.  The changeover period was at the very start of MY98, so cannot possibly have later ECU fitted to a P reg :y

MY98 is MFL, P reg (usually MY96 or MY97) is PFL

Breaking a 2.5 omega facelift should be the same as you want.

Check the part number, tetley, it should be on top of old ECU as in piccy...this is a 2000, 2.5 V6 Elite

Sorry about the lack of answers on this one people, I didn't hit the notify button.
Hopefully, I'll be getting the car plugged in soon, so will be able to identify the fault exactly.
