Omega General Help / Re: Radiators
« on: 11 June 2015, 10:17:54 »
just replaced mine with a pattern NRF Rad. part no 00529689, on my 3.2L saloon. This has the the auto box cooler as part of the rad. They only make this type and is listed to fit both 3.0L and 3.2.
This should fit a manual because the integral auto box cooler is redundant on mine, having a seperate one.

The original has part no 52485466 on the back.

£80-£90 for the pattern, £ approx £240 for a GM genuine.

Omega General Help / HBV Falied Again
« on: 17 May 2014, 23:01:03 »
Just replaced the Heater Bypass Valve on my 3.2 (a testing little job and cutting the hands to ribbons), the second in a couple of years. Took the top off the old one and there's a rubber seal inside. I presume this is the area that fails? Is there any alternative for the next time that might last a bit longer than the GM part or is this as good as we get? Any other possible reason for early failure? ???

Further info on the replacement alternator.
Vauxhall lists part number R1530056 for the 3.2 Elite which comes with wrong terminals.
I understand from the posts that to get the correct terminals, an upgraded 140A is the one to get which carries part number R1530055 I am lead to believe?
Could anyone verify this number?

Reading the post by SMD, this is what I found when looking to replace my alternator.
Couldn't add to posts because it is locked.

Ok thanks. I'll check that out to make sure before I get a new pack.

Thanks, it's only low down on the revs at present and seems ok on acceleration and normal driving, but I'll keep an eye on it. It appears the 1-3-5 coil pack is breaking down. My nephew works at Arnold Clarke's and I'm going to speak to him about getting a new pack.

Apologies for not replying sooner but thanks for the tip. Carried out the pedal trick and codes recorded were; 0420 followed by 0430 which indicates the cat efficiency on both banks is down (the emissions light has been on for a while) but reading experiences on this site, is not too much to worry about and the car is running fine.
This was then followed by a 0300 then 0303 which points to a random and cylinder 3 misfire from the info on the forum.
Thanks again for the help.

Omega General Help / Misfire whilst idling
« on: 16 December 2013, 21:26:46 »
A misfire has developed on my 3.2L Elite Saloon whilst moving slowly in traffic, using only idle speed. This also happens when coming to a stand still in drive gear. If I shift into neutral at this point it seems to disappear although as time goes on, I think it is getting gradually worse.
Cam cover gaskets and breather done last year so the plug wells should be free of oil, and it appears free from any rainwater under the bonnet in wet conditions.
It would seem that one of the coil packs is breaking down and I need to try and identify which one?
Any advice from similar experiences would be welcome.

Thanks again for all the info.

I've attached a link below for a site that seems quite good for part nos etc, Vx's listed at the end of each section.
It's probably known about but just in case.

Many thanks for the comments.
I'll look into getting a regulator for the old one.
You can always rely on Vx to help out!

Omega General Help / Alternator

I've been reviewing the various posts and maintenance guides regarding alternators, mine having recently packed in on my 3.2 Elite Saloon. Some really good and helpful info here.
What I'm not clear on is the replacement remanufactured alternator. It appears that both the 3.0 and 3.2 have the same part no and the terminals match those of the 3.0, which is not the same as the 3.2 Elite.
Does this mean that the remanufactured replacements only have terminals to suit the 3.0 or is it possible to obtain one that matches the 3.2?
I've got a replacement but have had trouble fitting the cables due to the terminals.
I would be grateful for any info.
