hello .
Congratulations on your site !!!
i have a opel omega b caravan , automatic , x20xev , 1998 model.
I changed engine. I put x18xe , with the electric from x20xev.
the car's working but I have a problem at low rpm.
while the car is working properly from 2000 rpm and up, at the beginning has no strength .
This is a big problem in an automatic car.
I thought about changing camshafts and mounting the x20xev !
you think I will have effect;

Replacing the autobox with a manual will help, but not by much...  :-\

That's alot of car for the 1.8. why the change?

I personally wouldn't have gone backwards meself either....

It could be that you need the Omega inlet manifold with the butterfly deleted...

It could also be the cambelt on the X18 has slipped and retarded the ignition, the X18 and X20 engines are quite tolerant and can run 2 teeth out on either inlet or exhaust cams... usually causing low rev problems...

if you are using the x20xev ecu , low rpm fuel maps and lambda values may not be compatible .. in any case there is a considerable difference in power and torque and omega weight wont help either.. :-\

As a thought, does the engine produce enough low down torque for the torque converter to work properly at lower RPM :-\

What year/version of 1.8 do you have as I recall some had a variable inlet manifold which if not operating (and it wont with Omega setup) would kill the low down torque.

It may need the old 2.0 inlet fitting to overcome this.

As for power, I see it being no worse than a 2.0 8V as fitted to early Omegas

As for others, be aware that not everyone on this planet has access to parts as easily and cheaply as we do and they have to compromise on what is available  :y

Hopefully refitting the 2.0 manifold will be an effective fix :y

I also wonder if the torque converter is not well matched to the new engine output, although we're not talking a massive difference in engine, TBH. :-\

I have difficulty with the English ...
in Greece Taxation is outrageous for cars 2000 cc.
660 euro road tax, plus 500 Euro luxury tax !!!!!!

import and export I've put from 2.0.
change the Sensor crankshaft and improved somewhat.
the problem is that when the engine warm up misfiring and I still have not found what's wrong.
perhaps DRAW air from the flange of import.

Your not going to get +19hp from a 2.0 Chip, which I thought yours was now a 1.8, ebay link is for a Map for 2.0 16V 136 hp X20XEV.

Snow Button, adapts the Auto Box setting for driving in the snow at pull away driving and  slow speeds.
