which bushes?
« on: 16 September 2014, 20:17:22 »

Been for an MOT and failed on only a couple of minor issues, but the main concern is front nearside suspension bush has failed. Only one though (front).
So quick ring round pricing complete arms etc, rang local stealer for the hell of it and he asked what was wrong with wishbones? Nowt says I except front bush gone ,so we sell the bushes says he fronts £35 and rears £17.
So do I go with complete wishbones from local factor at £47.50 + or just do bush required for MOT or go and poly both sides.
Also if I just do the bush required how easy is it to do while all still on the car?
Any input appreciated.

Fitting polys on the car is doable, pressing in new oe bushes is best done on a bench/press :y

If you're looking at £47+vat per side, then look for ATP on ebay... they do complete sets with wishbones, track rods and droplinks for less than two shitty arms bought locally and at a better quality ime. Can't fault their service. But be compare prices of them on both ebay.co.uk and on ebay.de as the offers don't always make it across the channel :y

Thanks for that Al ,but are you saying if In just do the one bush,it will be a complete nightmare to change if still on the car?
I am tempted to put some poly in but they seem to be about £50 each.

As the new GM front bush will need pressing in, Poly's are an easy'ish way out as you can cut the old bush out while still fitted to the car and then fit the Poly's by hand. Nice easy fix doing it that way, just wedge the arm down with a bit of wood.  :y

If you choose to re-bush, the wishbone will have to come off.

Yep, you'll get two bushes. 4 halves + 2 sleeves = 2 bushes.  :y

Thanks for the reference Al. I have ordered some more for stock, though it was tricky in German. Good price.
