General Car Chat / I`ve had the car for 2 years now & youtube
« on: 22 May 2012, 23:16:38 »
I`ve had the car for 2 years now
Apart from general servicing she`s been as a good as gold (sort of)
Sorted @ the very beginning was the leaking cam cover gasket & unblocked the engine breather tube. Which I discover clogs up again after each winter!
The next gremlin was a cracked exhaust manifold.
I`ve also renewed the cam pos. sensor.
That`s it.... so now i`m spoiled rotten as 34k has just clocked over,  the sun has come out and I`m back on the fazer.
Oh by the way; check me out on youtube "asdeaff" is my channel -  nothing too exciting. anybody else posting vids ?

Omega General Help / duff cam sensor symptons
« on: 04 January 2011, 23:27:39 »
Hi guys
The following symptons appeared on my 2003 2.2 CD with 30.176 miles on the clock.
The engine turns over and over and finally starts with the emissions light on or the engine check light on; never both.
After a short journey, It would re-start ok or not, especially  if I was running short on time. It stalled and refused to start on 2 occassions. Thanks to green flag for taking over 2  hours to turn out when it was -7 outside in the day time.
He reckoned my fuel pump was knackered!!
Not sure if I felt the auto gearbox was changing differently?
Power was reduced and some staggering experienced on a fast launch.
I bought the Autel MS509 engine scanner on flee-bay for under £60 and got a code of P0340.
I replaced the cam position sensor and the above  probs have  never re-appeared.
Nice "how to"  guide walked me thru-it.
Cheers

Omega General Help / followed the guides
« on: 16 May 2010, 20:54:13 »
Hi guys
I`ve followed the guides and replaced the leaking cam cover gasket on my 2.2, with the box off nice access to the plugs. According to the history the plugs were re-newed in 2008, removed them easily enough; but surprised to find them rusted heavily? I`m assuming run off water finds it`s way onto the top of the cam cover and drips down to corrode the plug body. Is this correct thinking? If so I`m thinking along the lines of water proofing the cam cover sliding lid in some way. Any thoughts.

Omega General Help / 2003 2.2 exhaust manifold
« on: 10 May 2010, 21:22:26 »
Hi guys
Hair line crack in the exhaust manifold cleverly hidden under the heat shield! I only took off the heat shield to cofirm the cam cover gasket is leaking from the  rear... which it is. Any ideas of the part numbers I need for this bad boy.. Cheers

General Car Chat / Beat that if you can??
« on: 04 September 2011, 23:20:57 »
I looked for the confessional page on this forum, but couldn`t find one
Anyway, bless me farther for I have recently committed the following cock-ups
During an oil change last weekend I dropped my new vaux oil filter into the old oil
I drove off from filling up this morning without replacing  my petrol cap.
I completely forgot about the MOT test until I tried to renew the car tax at the end of Aug. (9 weeks out of date).
I reversed out of my driveway and ran over our posties bicycle ( I`ve been told to expect the bill soon).
And here`s the biggy..... I piled all my tesco shopping into the boot (which for some reason I left up) & the car refused to un-lock and let me in. A somewhat upset and unknown toddler screamed blue murder from the back seat as I tugged and pulled at the drivers door.
I took the cowards way out and quietly walked off, without my shopping to look for my car

Beat that if you can??
