I take akong for the ride locks & heavy  D-Link chains & add disc locks front & rear
I parked up in the town the other night & someone has fixed  a poster on the lamp post with a foto & "Stolen from this spot 8 March my Honda CBR"  >:( got me thinking about trackers

General Car Chat / Range zero miles
« on: 22 January 2017, 22:38:27 »
With a range of 16 miles I thought I could just about make it home last night
Got completed distracted as Chichester approached by a very tipsy Swmbo  ::)
Now it`s 12 miles to empty with about 14 miles to go.  I`m sure I can make it home

Turn the ECO button on & cruise along @ about 58 mph still on the A27 heading west.
I could divert to Havant Tesco, it`s gone 1 AM  do they have a card only pump that works?
On a nice flat motorway with hardly any traffic, 2 miles to empty.
Nadgers range is Zero miles & she`s cruising nicely, so I reset the trip.
At zero plus 3 miles we`ve made it back home  :y
Last time I do that, gets the old nerves jangling a bit

General Discussion Area / Driving on the M25 about 3 pm today
« on: 01 December 2016, 21:04:37 »
The conversation in the car went something like this
swmbo : Ohh she`s being naughty
Me : Uhh  ???
swmbo : She`s taken another one
Me : who has  ???
swmbo : In the back of the  blue car
Me : what about it  ???
swmbo : Bit chilly for that if you ask me
Me :  ??? ???
swmbo : I wouldn`t dare do that, she`s being very naughty (giggling)
Me : Hang on, so there`s a woman in the back of a blue car being very naughty  ???
swmbo : oh she`s stopped doing it now (giggling)
swmbo : You know, selfies .......naughty selfies.
Me : Long good think & CLANG   :o that`s the penny dropping.
Swmbo : got it now, she must be messaging her man (even more giggling)
Me : well I think it`s outrageous, we passed that car already  didn`t we  ???

General Discussion Area / Dementia care
« on: 24 September 2016, 00:33:11 »
Dementia in the elderly & particularly the care involved is now challenging our family
My Mum is 91 & since last christmas her mental facalties have now declined to the point where we have found her a local nursing home.
Prior to this my sister took her onboard but found it increasingly difficult to cope.
she used to toddle around with frames etc but can`t safely do that now
I popped into the nursing home about 5pm on the way back home after work.
I found her in the lounge, looking pretty tired & uncomfotable in a reclining chair.
On several occasions the care worker asked her if she wanted to return to her bedroom.
She looked slightly confused & said "sorry" several times, so I asked her the same question.
I kinda took control of the situation in the end & asked if she could now return to her room.
I can`t see into my Mums mind, so I`m not entirely sure if all reasoning powers have gone
Her appetite isn`t great either, it`s all a bit worrying for us.

General Discussion Area / Weird sort of day
« on: 15 September 2016, 21:47:27 »
Weather wise anyway, stopped at my usual lunchtime haunt overlooking Langstone Harbour.
About midday it was very warm, the water was high & still  :)  I could see the fish takin flies off the surface.
High up somewhere  I could hear a shrieking bird call.
The bird calling got nearer & I thought I could see a buzzard circling. This bird was much smaller then a buzzard but all the other birds went very quiet.
A young collared dove landed on the top off the sea wall quite close about 20 feet away, the next thing I was aware off was a wooshing noise that got louder.
In front of me the bird that was calling overhead was now diving high speed left to right from seaward. It hit the dove with such a force that only a few feathers & blood spatters remained on the top of the wall  :o I was quite stunned for few seconds.
What ever that bird was, he was about twice the size off the dove & extremely powerful.

General Car Chat / Lane hogs
« on: 22 August 2016, 01:02:04 »
I was travelling east on my bike on the M27 this afternoon in very heavy slow moving traffic
I finally filtered my thru to the head of the conjested bit.
Only to find a Landy towing a trailor in lane 3 & a four deep convoy of caravans in lane 2.
Lane 1 was bogged down by a Micra not darin to exceed 45 MPH  ::)
The m/way ahead of this rollin road block was fairly clear :y

General Discussion Area / Litter bugs
« on: 01 August 2016, 22:51:33 »
Noticed an older gent early  yesterday morning on Portsdown,  doing what he could to recover the wind blown litter >:( from the  bushes on the slopes.
I went up jogging, but got involved in this impromptu litter pick.
The old boy was really amusin & was talking with a lot of naval parlance thrown-in.
Floggin the litter bugs seemed to be top of his list  :y
Closely followed by the brigg, for careless dog walkers leaving dog poop about for all & sundry to discover. But he reserved shooting for the  travellers who occasionally invade the place ;)

Portsmouth Water Co. idiots & their contractor incompetent aholes.
Came back home this evening to find the pavement outside my gaff dug up & debris everywhere.
Portsmouth Water sent out their contractor to install a water meter for my neighbour.
Only we got the water meter cos the little metal lids on the pavement  are next to each other.
Their contractor couln`t be arsed to determine which supply fed our place & visa versa.
Oh they sort of only half turned the stop cock back on, result being  we had no water pressure to speak of  >:(
Finally got someone to turn up at 9pm & fiddle around with the stop cock & he seemed more annoyed then I was  ::) little wee fella he was, with a very red face  ??? apparently he spends most evenings runnig around the area sorting out shite caused by A bodgit & son.
Can`t wait for the clowns to turn up in the morning & try to finish the job.  ;)
