« on: 10 October 2006, 13:47:34 »
Heater still blows cold (2001 model) vacuum pipes seem ok... So i thought i'd try flushing the sysyem (looks abit grotty)....Whats the best way to do this? is the radiator drain tap visible without removing the under engine plastic shield.

Omega General Help / Re: Alarm keeps going off!

Picked up my Omega yesterday. Its a spotless 2001 CD 2.6 and I absolutely love it! Cannot fault it to look at or drive. Really pleased.

ONLY PROBLEM!!!

The alarm keeps going off for no apparent reason. I left the car in the car park of the services on the M1 on the way back from picking it up. I was in there only 5 mins and i came out to it going off for no obvious reason.

It went off again at 2:30am this morning waking up my whole street again for no apparent reason! It has also done it a couple of times this evening.

Can anyone offer any suggestions? Is there a way to lock the car without setting the alarm until i get the problem sorted out?

Would REALLY appreciate any help on this one.

Hi, I had the exact same problem with my 2001 -The good members ressloved my problem read here - http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1152786754

Well the car is getting trailered this morning to my pal who owns his own garage, said he will sort it out for me...  I cant really tackle it myself at the moment as I just dont have the time, now I'm back at uni, its a killer :(

tbh tho, £300 fitted from Vaux is cheaper than I thought it would of been!!

I'm poor at fixing certain things aswell.... :'( Just had the same fitted  by our local  VX dealer on a 2003 with a water pump .. just to be on the safe side...  Cost me nearly £420(depending where one lives it seems - 28 miles away from my home and a VXdealer could have done the job for £300 + a water pump.....  :-/ puzzled) it's always good to know someone with the 'know how'...
signing out .. now..

Pocketless  Dave (But it's worth it when i see the omega running as it should) :)

I'd have thought so. It would appear that the only legal sidelight colour is white (perhaps you'd get away with xenon white) - but I'm guessing that blue or any other colour would be a no-no.

When's your next MOT due then, you can let us know if it fails on the sidelight colour  ;)

I've just  been round to my local MOT station with the bulbs  - the side light bulbs  are illegal. Got my £tenner back so more tinnies for me lol

If on the back of the packaging it states for off road use only, will the same bulbs fail a MOT ?

I have emailed Ring automotive will keep you updated.

I think I'll just swap the side light bulbs for now..(not sure if it's worth the hassle touching the dash) just bought some side light bulbs  (prism make -unsure if they are a descent bulb cost £10 a pair) with 4 x LED should be alright, fingers crossed... the bigger problem is finding a hand small enough to remove the existing.... not a lot of space there  lol.

just read the back of the packaging and it states for off road use only :-/  unsure now but am offered a refund.

Omega General Help / Xenon bulbs/ LCD Dasboard - Advice Please.
« on: 03 October 2006, 14:44:36 »
Have been looking at all these customised omegas of late (gallery) and they look brilliant, unfortunately my wallet will not allow me for some time. :(

I however am considering the following and would like any views - Maybe you have replaced the same any advice will be most appreciated :-

2003 Omega

1. I have the xenon type blue tint Main headlight bulbs fitted as standard,

Can I also replace the sidelights to the same and are they legal?

2. I have seen a few advertisements regarding LCD Blue Dash kits -Transforming the original orange to blue including the centre console (I do like the look of them).

Has anybody done this or have any opinions?

Many thanks
Dave.

so that leaves you £400 better off

£100 belt, tensioners

£3 cam belt change dvd

£297 for beer  :D

even going to a reputable garage should see you better off (well it would up here)  if you are not happy doing it yourself.

My cambelt was done at 36k / 4 years by Vx, the cost was £315, and since a standard service is around £150-£200 then this job will definitely be noticible in the garage bill if the owner still has them.

Hi, Rv did not fit a new cambelt kit, the last service in july 2006 was completed under the last warranty, according to them it was ok and didn't need doing... still at that time the car had covered more than 40k so i'm sure they should have advised the original owner of the 40k rule. (maybe RVdidnot want to spend money).
As it stands I am having the work done next week with my local Vx dealer, i will also include a new  water pump , I will persue this matter further with RV in the meantime.

that is nice on an 02 plate too, 38k so same situation you are in with your new one - due a major service and that cambelt/ tensioner.

agree about the colour, in my opinion silver and black are the dogs dangly bits  :)

It was the mileage that drew me to  the car... but silver was always in my head.

so when do you get your new Omega?

Monday can't go anywhere tomorrow massive footy prem games on sky.
