General Car Chat / Where have all the cars gone ?
« on: 29 November 2020, 00:04:09 »
Hi all,

I just checked and it’s been 3 years since I last come on here, feels like 3 months ago.

Since I sold my last 3.2 not that I have been seriously looking but you know how it is dabbling with your saved searches and alerts waiting for that nice V6 to come up and I don’t think anything Saloon wise unless NI has popped up.

Where have they all gone, it doesn’t even seem gradual it’s like most variants disappeared overnight, to the point we made a guest appearance on the page cars you don’t see anymore

Anyway hope everyone’s good and if ever any of you do come to sell  ;D ;D

Ps that was dry humour not a wanted advert

Car Parts, bits For Sale & Wanted / Irmscher Chrome Grille
« on: 22 August 2017, 21:30:50 »
No the place for ideal chat I know but as its been a while since I posted on here - Hello all

I have for sale an Irmscher Grille, this is the 4th one I have had and would say condition wise its not bad at all given its age. One tiny superficial crack to bottom corner is the only point worth mentioning, it has the standard stone chips, lacquer peel, glue marks, corrosion to chrome.

I have it listed on a well known auction site but IMO they are going for silly money (RobseyMV6 sold me one 5 years ago for 60 quid)

Anyway enough of me rambling, pics below price 80.00 and I am in Reading RG1, only for sale as let down on car I purchased it for and nothing has come up since

General Car Chat / Last registered Omega
« on: 04 July 2013, 21:36:59 »
Hi

I remember reading somewhere that the last Omega to come off the production line was a silver 53 Elite ( I could be wrong going by memory)

Although I know of atleast 2 ex plods that are 54 plates,

How can that be, or is it that the Police just didn't bother registering them for a while  ;)

Just curious really  :D

Cars for Sale & wanted / 3.2 Auto Ex Plod F/S No MOT
« on: 01 July 2013, 19:52:22 »
Hi all

Been away for bit ( long story )  :y

In short the car has to go, I had so many plans of restoring this back to fully liveried show piece

Anyway here goes  :-X

The vehicle is a bit of a rarity in that it only serviced the police for approx 18 months when it was retired and purchased by an elderly lady in Henley on Thames as she liked the look of it, It spent the next 10 or so years pottering round the roads of Henley covering around 10 miles a day until I purchased it in April. The car was based at Bicester as the M40 patrol vehicle, it was one of the very last vehicles to carry the jam roll livery I have the police service records, and the bill of sale to the lady that purchased it now having 2 previous keepers

Overall body work not just for ex police but for any car of this age is very good, it has all police arial holes plugged in the roof and in the door trim, interior wise it carries the special (cd) interior inc the police roof lining, there is several mounting holes for there equipment in the dash and surrounding areas and the ash tray is missing as was previously taken up by equipment

I have mountains of paperwork from Vauxhall where it was serviced and MOTed detailing every part ever replaced over the last 10 years, the CDR 2005 was purchased from VX by the previous keeper, I have all the manuals and key codes available for the stereo and the full owners wallet and pack, I also have the original bronze key ring from the police carrying the police identification number

The car had new cam gaskets last year, with receipts to prove, on purchasing the vehicle I had new plugs, new fuel filter, oil filter, air filter, full oil change carried out

Good Bits
Only 2 previous keepers
Overall very good condition
Engine runs and drives perfectly
Becoming rare now limited slip differential LSD
Stacks of paperwork and receipts
Full service just carried out
Overall originality of the vehicle
Tax until November

Bad Bits
CAT sensor fault codes showing ( the previous owner advised these had been on purchasing in 2003) receipts to prove multiple VX investigations carried out, as it doesn't effect the day to day use it was left as is
Interior has various holes
Missing ash tray
Passenger arch lip has surface rust shown in pic, you have to look from underneath as unable to see side on
MOT expired end of June ( due to no other reason than I'll health I unfortunately unintentionally allowed it to expire )
Front passenger wishbone knocking over bumps
Slight bubble to aerial plug
Age related marks here and there
Scratches scuffs to front and rear bumper
Cam belt needs doing as the only record I have for it is 8 years ago last week

If it doesn't sell within a week or so I will break, having broke these before I know it will bring in a lot more

Pics on there way  :)

Price £550

If you have any questions please let me know  :y

Omega General Help / Spare Wheel Well F/L
« on: 18 May 2013, 20:26:38 »

Now being on F/L Omega number 4 I have noticed my last 2 really dont look to pretty under the spare wheel, the boot floor appears crusty and feels like you could push through it given half a chance  :(

Has anyone else noticed this on the F/L saloon, although not a major issue yet I can see this becoming an issue in the next few years if left untreated

Which brings me on to my next question, what to do with the rust to stop it in its tracks ?

General Car Chat / Must be a Special Omega
« on: 17 May 2013, 21:00:29 »

Over the last couple of weeks I have watched this be won on ebay 3 times and on each occasion no one seems to proceed with the sale

But... Don't panic people its yours now as spares or repair for a measly 650 quid  :D

Interesting that it sold for less than the spares or repair price every time  ;)

Omega Gallery / Another Ex Plod
« on: 09 May 2013, 21:03:01 »
Hi all

Right where to start with this, firstly pics are not great but I will upload more tomorrow

This 2001 ex TVP car, was purchased by the previous owner in 2003 from auction with just under a 100k on, the retired lady that bought it who was in her 60s at the time wanted an auto and this fitted the bill

In the last 10 years she has covered 30k in it,  :), body work wise paint is flat but more or less undamaged all doors are mint, the only bit or rust coming through is a 5p size scab under the arch lip but you can't see it, and 1 of the aerial surrounds. Interior when I collected it yesterday was filthy although having spent an hour giving it a quick clean inside bar 1 tiny hole in the drivers seat all is unmarked and almost as new, the carpets are as new with no wear anywhere

It's basically as the day it left the Police

It only has MOT for 2 months, but no knocks or anything and seems perfect. I will be replacing the brakes in the next week just in case

Bad bits no ashtray, desperate for a service, and cam belt is overdue on age, EML is on but the lady advised it was on when they got it and it is the typical 3.2 cat sensor

Anyway with almost a full tank of fuel in it, and me £400 lighter here it is

Believe me the pics don't do it justice  :)

General Discussion Area / Car Tax ?
« on: 09 May 2013, 00:04:21 »
Going by this table using my old June registered 2001 3.2 as an example

The road tax based on 284g CO2 emissions is 269.50 for 6 months now ?

Is that correct ?

General Car Chat / Omega Plenum Chamber ?
« on: 04 May 2013, 15:20:35 »
Not really a question more curiosity really ;)

Why do the same variants of say the X25XE, Y26 and Y32 in other cars not have the same plenum chamber as the Omega despite being made at the same time ?

Specially the Vectra having all the above in, and what are the benefits of having a plenum chamber design like on the Omega over the Vectra set up ?

having looked at so many Vectras in the past I was always curious ?

 ;)
