"conned" cover gaskets ...........
« on: 07 May 2010, 21:38:56 »

When I bought my 2.5 a year ago it was in dire need of TLC - so I paid ££ & it got some ......

Turns out that less than 4k later my Cam cover gaskets weren't done with Vx parts and are leaking again.  :o

Question is, do I need to do the whole lot again, or are there any particular bits of a non Vx kit which are c_ap - or the whole lot?

The loss isn't great, but its dropping oil when stationary and smells "oily" ..........

considering its the gasket, and a few orings....

its the gasket that is known to be a problem, but for another quid or 2 I would do the lot.

and make sure the breathers are cleaned too, in case they have been neglected, as that will blow new genuine ones too.

would the gaskets/o rings for a '99 3.0 and a '98 2.5 be the same part #?
