Would be ideal on a proper ramp, it needs doing before it gets any worse. I don't want to folk out for a new gear box.

No access to ramps so would be happy to pay someone to do it.

Couldn't the friendly mechanic who only charges trade help?

Always helps having a friendly mechanic who will let you go under the ramp and who only ever charges me trade price for some reason.

That sounds like your solenoids inside the gearbox giving up. Happened to me about two months ago on my AR35. We changed all the solenoids, a good fluid change and it is a good as new  :y :y

Any pictures of where these are and how much?

I will get the autobox oil change if anyone fancies doing it on here, obviously I will travel from Manchester and pay cash.

Will do the oil change, solenoids and something else someone said.

Its a sump off job. Have a look here - - > http://images.omegaowners.com/downloads/Autobox_Docs/4L30E_Article.pdf

You want Figure 2 parts #307 #303 and #323

If a breaker on OOF doesn't have any then these guys can help you with the solenoids http://www.belvoirtransmission.co.uk/

thanks for that, the boy suggested a new gear box if the solenoids are playing up, I don't know if they are though it is just what other forum members have said.

My bets are on just an oil change to which I have asked if  a forum member will do it and I will pay cash, travel there etc.

By 'new' I meant 'new to the car', ie a known good 2nd hand one.

Personally, on a V6, I'd take the hit and change the ATF, and if that didn't cure, pop on a 'new' (to the car) box.

If you want to do it on the cheap, 2 cans of Comma Dex3 from Hellfrauds, and some instance gasket.  The filter can be cleaned.

Ideally I would like for someone to do it cheap but on the other hand I would like a proper job and know it will last (not a bodged job).

I had a similar bang when going round corners and it was changing down or up, changed the ATF and it has been a dream since similar miles on mine too!

TBH you couldn't pay me enough to do this job again especially without a decent ramp, not too hard just unbelievably messy ;D
