Thoughts please?
« on: 21 September 2013, 22:08:22 »

Further to my earlier thread about my mate changing his car.  ::)

He's decided he needs a diesel as he does a lot of miles as he's a Cocktail Pianist (Weddings, Bar Mitzvahs in London and Home Counties! If you need a Pianist, PM for details!  :) ) and wants a smaller car than his Passat as parking is a hassle in his road, but also needs something with room to get his keyboard etc in.  ::)  So he's spotted this near where he lives in Dorking.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Peugeot-206-SW-S-DIESEL-ESTATE-DIESEL-MANUAL-2005-05-/290965344888?pt=Automobiles_UK&hash=item43bee2d278

It's got service history but the next service is due and there's no record of a recent cambelt so that'll need doing.  It will come with a new MOT and anything that pops up when tested will be sorted.  The dealer reckons it's in very good condition "For age and mileage"   ::) and it seems to be at a reasonable price.  :-\

So I was wondering if anyone here has any experience of these cars or just some general OOF wisdom!!  :y :y :y

2.0 litre hdi is pretty bombproof, just check that everything works, timing belt is due at 90k and needs full kit and waterpump,it may have already been changed on age but history should show that.

Really really horrid seat and driving position, you could play hockey with the gear stick, I heard they had nearly 15 fault recalls on them but don't quote me on that.

If he don't want to repair it (lots of screws are reverse  >:( ) and don't intend to find partner for a short  togetherness (no place unless she is a gum-doll  :D) then will not too bad choice.
