Mine's a Facelift 2000 Elite...

What was confusing me is that JasonH (who pointed out how bald my tyre was) has a Facelift 2000 CD and his spare appears to be full size he has the 16" wheels and his spare is 16" with no speed restriction - maybe someone swapped it before...

My spare wheel does not have an actual ‘80km/h’ sticker on it, but it doesn’t need to because the narrow spare wheel speed restriction is in the Owners Manual. So the fact that JasonH’s Omega does not have a sticker does not mean much – the speed limit recommendation still applies as per the Owners Manual.

do all facelift elites have 225 tyres, just wondering if my elite was supplied with factory extras, as it has all the gadgets (Rear Blind, Bose Audio, Memory Seats, Heated Rear seats, Xenon lights), but it also has the 235/45ZR/17 tyres fitted, rear boot spolier, and the front skirt is different to that on other facelife elites I have seen (the fog lights are round not square)

I thought the facelift elites used 235 tyres on a 17" rim...

Yup, my Elite originaly had the 235's on a 17" Rim. Michelin Pilot's. All facelift Elite/MV6 should be the same. Suspension on the facelift Elites and MV6's should also be the same, lower, as opposed to the pre-facelifts where only the MV6 was lowered.

I'm now running 265/35 x 18 on the back, but i've still got my wee space saver, complete with it's yellow sticker, in case of emergency.  :-?

Only ever used it briefly, cos it tends to take the look off the car.  :o

Incidentally, for reasons known only to themselves, Vx chose to fit a narower spare to the Elite&MV6 than fitted to the rest of the range...

The GLS/CD/CDX have 225/55x16 tyres and 205/65x15 spare

The Elite/MV6 have 235/45x17 tyres and 195/65x15 spare....

So the Elite/MV6 spare is not only narower than the GLS/CD/CDX, it also has a smaller diameter.

So are the Elite/Mv6 wheels 235/45x17 also smaller in diameter than the rest of the range 225/55x16? TheBoy, can you take out the calculus and let us know?

If so it will make for brisk acceleration at the expense of top speed...

Interesting...

As far as I remember the figures are:

1) The width of the tyre tread eg 225/235

2) The distance from the wheel rim to the tread(tyre wall) expressed as a percentage of the tread width eg 45%/55%

3) The diameter of the wheel eg 16/17

The confiusing bit is that the first measurement is metric ie mm and the third is inches

I THINK!

EDIT: So the lower the figure in no 2. thr lower the profile
