Child seat detection
« on: 03 March 2016, 19:14:24 »

Hello!

I have the airbag warning light on and a code reader extracted the following error:
95 CSD Sensor Malfunction (Child Seat Detection)
This error seems to be intermittent and comes back after resetting it.
There are some old threads with similar problem but none seem to offer a solution. Has anybody successfully solved it (without changing airbag control unit and/or passenger seat)?
Another question - where exactly is the airbag system (yellow) plug on the passenger seat? I should probably give it a wiggle and a clean.

Best regards,

Rainer

Nobody on this forum has had this problem? I am sure some have swapped seats (on a FL) and should at least know where the seat sensor plug is located...

I don't think any cars in the UK were fitted with the car seat detector  :( so we don't have the experience.

That said I think somebody has researched whether it is possible to fit to a UK car and I think there is a setting in Tech2 to enable or disable it.

Do you know if your car has the sensor?

Apparently it has this sensor, as there was no error when I got the car and all other signs point to it as well (warning sticker on passenger seat, a special light in the ceiling lamp).

Possibly first owner didn`t want that feature? How do you know it`s not fitted?

Nope. SRS ECU needs to be replaced with one not configured for a child seat detector.

About the plug location  - I did give it a look but it was tight and quite dark there  - is it more toward the centre of the car?

You should be able to get a new sensor ( looks like a net)

But it means stripping the seat cover, I had the same problem in an old mercesdes, if a passenger sat in the front seat the airbags wold disable throwing the light but a few swift hits would set it right

I never got round to changing it and sold it on
