I keep getting 4 or 5 of these strange emails too  ::)
Mine are normally about some Russian bint wanting to bounce up and down on my nob though  :-X :D
Really, the ones I get you have to Marry them first.  ???

The irony of spamming me with several unsolicited emails asking to consent to further emails I never explicitly agreed to (or had to as part of joining a service) is not lost on me.
Its a Legality they have to do it, or suffer the consequences.

No, it's a cop-out.  They have to get explicit consent from anyone they had implied consent from previously, whether it was given freely or through some hidden text in the Ts+Cs or even no consent at all.  I don't begrudge the one email asking me to re-consent, but when they don't give me a 'no' option other than ignoring the email which in turn generates several reminders over the next few days I get a little frustrated.  Don't forget, they also have the choice of deleting all data pre 25th May and starting again ::)
