Fitted an OPC style grille to the Zaf.
Makes it easier to spot in the car park now

Fitted a shiny new YUASA battery £63.99 from CES, only had the car a week and couldn't even start the beast, fired up first time, tried to get an oil filter but Halfrauds only had screw type, CES told me paper element type on a 2000 V6 2.5 Ecotec but they didn't have one :0(

Drove it to work for the first time this week, my god the ride in the 3.2 is so smooth like silk, after 3 days in M Sport BMW. Was looking forward to the drive today.  8)

Topped up screenwash, that hot topic we have here.   ;D

Also gave it quick once over for all fluids and tyre check, all looking good.

Bonnet catch needed adjusting, as if put up a fight to open the bonnet.

Rear tyres going down bit quicker than 2.2’s did   ::)

Lost most of my expansion tank's coolant. I thought I had found why - water pump - but opinions here differ and I'm confused.

Lost most of my expansion tank's coolant. I thought I had found why - water pump - but opinions here differ and I'm confused.
If the pump is leaking then coolant will dribble out of the drain hole on the underside of the pump body. You can't see the drain hole when the pump pulley is in place - you need to undo 3no 6mm bolts to get the pulley off to check.

2 possible sources of coolant dribbling down the front of the engine are the aluminium plate on the oil cooler (they corrode if the coolant isn't changed periodically) or the thermostat body / transfer tube (again they corrode if the coolant loses it's anti corrosion properties due to being too old).

If you can definitely see where the coolant is leaking then you have found your problem and are well on the way to fixing it  :y

If you are not certain then I strongly recommend that you make/get yourself a test cap for the coolant tank so that you can pressurise the system when the engine is cold. It is so much easier to find a leak (or leaks) when the engine is cold. (and you need to have the intake plenum off to be able to see the oil cooler plate and thermostat...............)

Well done! Hard to know where to stop, isn't it? The ABS ECU might come in handy, also the headlights height sensor. I expect more suggestions will follow.

Changed the HBV ..... for the second time in seven months (Good old genuine Vauxhall).  ::)  Stood like a lemon with the Digital Multimeter probes on the battery negative terminal and the removed lead, waiting for the delay timers to shut down so that I could check for parasitic drain. All good, so I whacked a new battery on it as the old one was struggling when left unused for a few days.
Washed it and then gave it an airing.  ;)

Fitted doors and a boot lid to it. Progress! The door hinges are the most cantankerous, difficult to adjust, agricultural thing you can imagine, though.. still, the bodyshop can do the final gapping.

(Doors will come off again once I finish basically gapping the most annoying one, as they'll just get in the way..)

Painted and fitted the headlight washers. Bulk of the wiring was already fitted, so only needed to connect the pump feed and ground, plug in the relay and call it done 8)

Needed a (working) car, so wandered around to find one, brought it home to fill it back up with air, took it to train station, drove back to Brakkers, and abandoned it again.
