Odd goings on with new PC
« on: 28 June 2018, 19:35:38 »

I've just inherited a Packard Bell M3700 integrated desktop, basically a big screen with a computer inside. It has this on screen touchpad thing which I don't need and it sits quietly in the top corner of the screen. It also has this peculiar problem where the mouse is jumping about the screen, right clicking and doing weird stuff. It also seems to change the tabs and if I am typing the cursor just disappears as if it had clicked off the screen' it's happened about 8 times while typing this. It also seemed to refresh this page when I was typing this out so had to type all again.

I've tried virus/malware scan, done all the updates, checked another mouse, turned off all the usual guff that was running in the background and it is still doing it. I even tried running in safe mode but was still doing it. I am going to try running virus scan in safe mode as I had that before on another PC where the virus could hide itself from the scanner in normal windows mode.

In the meantime any other things I can check?

Cheers

Disable the touchscreen, and see if that improves it - it might be ultra sensitive.  If that cures, then look for reducing sensitivity in driver.

There is touch point app thing that opens each time I start machine, I just closed it there and it seems ok.
