Is it just burning residue spillage off from the cam gasket 

Any oil down the plugs would be quite quickly burned off, within first few miles.

I know that from dropping a load of oil down the 3.0 V6 plugs, from a cam gasket. Clouds of smoke on start up but soon goes!

Why? Because you have a load of oil in the cylinder bore. Once sealed up with a spark plug, the bore will ignite the oil creating a shit load of smoke as you are burning it off....

did clean some oil out of plug wells . when i took plugs out they were cover in oil . going to change plugs later . dont know when they were changed last maybe some oil went down plug wells when i look at them

Make sure they are torqued up right too

I assume in the 4 pot cam cover there is a gauze or filter to stop oil going into TB? Not played with one for so long, can't remember...
