.....
Where are you going Andy and from which direction ?

It's a CL/small site ..... can't think exactly (I'm at work) but we'll be going west to east ie up the hill

Got the east west bit (unless your going the very very long scenic route)  ::) ;D
I've dragged the van all over those parts for years.
Stick it on here where your site is and what alternative route your t@at nav gives you and i'll tell you what the route is like in the real world  :y

They are definitely banned, and due to location its very likely you'd get a tug, theres a lot of coppers about waiting for bikers... Just follow the diversion, its not too bad.

It's at Helmsley I've not looked at the sat-nav yet to see which way she'd send us.

I do realise that. Just can't understand how they can ban a select group of motorists but allow a bigger version to go up ... a trailer should be a trailer. I should organise a micro car expedition up the hill ...... see how you coulld really balls things up with perfectly legal but inadequate vehicles. I drove a Bond E 3 wheeler up to the Cat & Fiddle Inn, 175/250cc (one or the other) of Villier's finest in a car of sorts, I just about overtook a none lyra cyclist  ;D

The way i'd go from yours ..................

M62  ---  M1 ---  A1M --- A64 (round the bottom of York) to Malton.
Come off the A64 and head north on the A169 until you get to Pickering.
Turn left onto the A170  :y
Helmsley's about 10 - 15 mile down the road  :y :y

95% motorway or duel carriageway
No crappy roads (until you get onto the A170 between Pickering and Helmsley) iirc

Enjoy  :)
