Anyone know the best place to buy these now? The price seems to have shot up in the last 12 months.

Wouldn't bother...

Buy Sachs OE for sensible money... especially for the saloon, unless you budget for the estate top mounts to fit the Bilsteins properly. Sachs come with fittings that match the originals. :y

I put this site in my favourites a year or so ago, but haven't contacted them yet to see if they still sell at these prices.
Might be worth a phone call though.

Never had a problem with the fittings that come with B4 to be honest so unless quality has slipped in the last two years? As it happens I have the full genuine GM fittings brand new (bought from someone who had to buy more parts than required due to the GM minimum order farce).

The Bilsteins for the saloons have a shorter threaded section than the Sachs/factory ones so the correct mountings don't fit as they are 1/2" longer... net result the retaining nut cannot be fitted, let alone tightened.

The supplied fittings are quite frankly crap compared to the genuine ones, although, possibly not £45 worth. Last set I fitted was probably four years ago, but I was unimpressed enough to only fit genuine self levellers to my Plod and Sachs to the rest... :-\

Good shout and great price, are Elite front springs different?  :-\

See that’s shock only, I’ve got some very tired Elite front shocks on 3.2.

Given my more “keen” driving style these days could, could be tempted by B4 all around, but would probably go Sachs/Boge.

Define your definition of "keen" Mr Tunnie.

In any case, B4 is really a OE replacement, not a sports shock.

Less body roll than now, often find zero cars on lane 4 of a particular roundabout. Meaning big queue skip possible, taken to launching out of said lane 4 which is fine, but I get a bit too much roll in the roundabout.

Controlling roll is much more the spring's job than the shock.

Are Elite front springs softer than standard?

Bloody hope not! My cdx handled like a canal boat as it was. Can’t imagine what it’d be like softer handling than that.  ;D

they are a wear item, just like the rest of the suspension. But it's a gradual deterioration that's hard to notice.  Mine were barely holding the front of the car up(it came up 30mm when I fitted new ones), let alone absorb bumps.

I got the full set from Demon Tweaks via their eBay shop, cheapest I could find with the option to deliver to my local Argos for collection  :y

And, if I may be so presumptuous to ask, how much?

Need to look at renewing suspension on TBE, and undecided whether to go OE type manufacturers such as Boge/Sach, or B4s.  I had good life from the previous B4s that were on the Bullet, and now on TBE, but more recent threads have suggested the quality isn't what it was.

I plan on replacing all springs.

Rears on mine are fine (just stand Boge), I'd find replacing all a bit excessive. Tempted if rear shocks need replacing I'd replace all 4, so it's a bit more balanced. But wondering what springs to put on the front.

@VXL V6, what springs do you use with your B4 fronts?

Looks like £144 for fronts, £138 for the rears.

The cost is in the geometry checks afterwards, especially if you touch the fronts.  That's why I'm planning on doing all together.  There is something wrong with TBE, handling wise, and one side does intermittently look low.

It going to need £250 worth of front tyres soon as well, so gonna be an expensive hit...   ...but its still a cheap car to run really.

The ones in the link in my earlier post were £112.90 per pair, but I don't know if they actually still stock them at that price.
I may enquire soon, as I'm thinking of changing mine.

Mine has plod springs and dampers on the front. I think the dampers are past their best. The plod springs are great though. They take away a lot of the body roll without making anything harsh.
A new pair of B4,s would make it just about perfect I think.

Which ones, and why ?  :-\............and where from ?  ;D

Forgot to mention - also have Monaro top mounts and polybushed and refurbed wishbones, so frontend is great other than dampers being a bit soft.

VXL V6 - how quickly did yours arrived from DT?  I ordered mine 2 or 3 weeks ago, but nothing yet.  I've sent them a message asking for an estimation of when I will get them.

Not that there is a desperate hurry, as I can see getting CP4L to accept they have only sent me 3 springs is going to be a long, drawn out ordeal.
