Air-Con Compressor
« on: 31 August 2016, 23:59:06 »

Option B instead of replacing the 2.2 is I splash some cash and give the 2.2 a bit of love, one thing that failed about 8 years ago is the aircon. But i'd really like it working again, so given the compressor has not fired since about 2008 I think a new one is in order...

Why do you think the compressor is kaput?  :-\

That's a lot of cash to splash unless you're 100% sure it's necessary.  ;)

Mine works fine after a similar time out of action, although I've found that the compressor pipe seals are gone after fitting a new condenser and pressurising the system for the first time in years.  :(

Get the A/C system checked for leaks and gassed before shelling out for expensive new components, then you'll see what needs fixing.  ;)

ATS didn't charge me either for the initial gas when they found the high pressure valve was leaking.  :y

If you take the car to Serek for the clutch he does an excellent job on aircon servicing - on all Omega's I've taken to him he has replaced both valves because they are notorious for leaks.

A quick pressure test will soon prove if you need a new condenser - not a difficult job. Never needed a compressor replaced in any I've had.
