Title: Ebay irmscher omega!!!!!
Post by: RobseyMV6 on 14 July 2019, 10:27:31
Hi all,
If anyone's thinking of paying good money for it think again!!
Had a look yesterday and car looks good on pictures but what a mess. Rust on doors paint work on body kit needs refresh and then the last straw when I looked underneath.
Ready for scrap!! Rusted out!! All along sills exhaust hangers pipes legs just everywhere. Must have been sitting on grass damp.... so think twice. I told him she's rusty, he said just surface..... haha more then that. I just walked away.

Good luck if you bid but I would stay clear.  :y

MOT History shows it failed on the 8th Nov 2018 @70,723 miles with a dangerous defect, five major defects and an advisory. It passed the MOT the next day 9th Nov with just the advisory and somehow clocked up a further 2,026 miles in the process.

"Do not drive until repaired (dangerous defects):

Repair immediately (major defects):
Nearside Headlamp aim too high (4.1.2 (a))
Offside Front Suspension arm pin or bush excessively worn (5.3.4 (a) (i))
Offside Inner Track rod end ball joint has excessive play (2.1.3 (b) (i))
Parking brake efficiency below requirements (1.4.2 (a) (i))
Offside Parking brake inoperative on one side (1.4.1 (a))
Monitor and repair if necessary (advisories):

Mot history state rust underneath.
Only ever since one other so bad.

If someone is interested they should ask for pictures of underside as guy as big work shops and lifts on site.

If asking 3k plus mine must be worth 6k plus  ;D

Someone will be mugged off sadly!!

Pictures always look good  ::)

Small change. Buy it and tuck it away in your garage for twenty years. Be a good source of  parts to keep your gas guzzler on the road when parts are hard to come by in the electric car era. ;D

You might break even if you pay a £1000, and break it. Not worth more than that.  Mine had fsh from new  140k sold for £800. And was in rare silver.

For that money you could buy seven omegas and make one good one from the bunch, flog the scrap shells for a few hundred quid. and then use that to fuel it for a week.  :D

I might be doing the equivalent of whizzing in the Holy Font of omeganess here but...

I really really dislike the look of that thing. The wheels, body kit, steering wheel all of it, it just looks cheap and nasty to me. Give me a plain old Elite any day,

Just seem to look a bit of an afterthought , and with high kerbs etc going to catch all that low plastic or whatever it's made from always look tacky in my opinion.

That white one wasn't lowered as I used it for work :y

Never been a fan of the cow catcher front lip on the black one.

Fwiw, the Irmscher stuff is made from the exact same material as the factory bits, unlike the God awful fiberglass shite that you can buy for the same money :o

What's your opinion of this...

Well, the top edges of the bumpers fit properly(unlike Irmscher ones), but the lower edges and sill covers are just as ugly.
And the two tone interior is tacky as hell.
Title: Re: Ebay irmscher omega!!!!!
Post by: Doctor Gollum on 16 July 2019, 15:07:20
;D you're not wrong about the interior, it's looks an absolute bastid to keep clean on a daily driver so people don't both which makes that one kind of unique...

That said, if you're spending that sought of cash new, why would you not pay the extra for a unique colour rather than that standard two tone :-\

I was never a fan of the irmscher body kits on the Omega either, although I quite liked it on Twiglets car with the wheels etc to go with it. Despite the fact I advised him against doing it.
Still probably would have kept it standard if it was mine.

That's better than the Omega , wheels are great would like a set for my E430, the interior of mine in plain grey leather looks much better.

Bid to £1500 first time round, starting at a reasonable £1. However didn't reach it's reserve, however much that was.
Now relisted with bids to start at £2000. How optimistic can you get?

Excel is a tool for office self-abusers, and serves absolutely no purpose to 99.9% of people, except the lazy as an easy way to create a table.

Needless to say, I do *NOT* store *ANYTHING* in Excel *EVER*.

I have an app, but that's on the phone, and Christ knows where that is.

However, it does sync to cloud storage, so I'll look there if I CBA.  But I didn't start electronically recording servicing until 3 or 4 years ago.  Which probably means I need to go through the receipts. And I really CBA.

Even if DTM did it at Newent, I know we haven't been there for a couple of years at least, and the last time I took the Battlebus (and probably the time before that). So its probably due anyway.

However, still not 100% sure I'll present it for MOT next month, as the LPG availability around here is getting a bit silly :(

Service history only goes back to 2015, as I thought.  Not done since then.

I stick a printed label somewhere unobtrusive listing date and mileage. One for the oil, plugs and filters and another for the timing belt. Writing the date and mileage directly on the filters with a marker was my habit before I bought the label machine, so I still do that as well. Then you can just look at the oil filter on anything and know for sure that is/isn't due for a change.

Writing the date and mileage directly on the filters with a marker was my habit before I bought the label machine, so I still do that as well. Then you can just look at the oil filter on anything and know for sure that is/isn't due for a change.
I do that on spin on types :).

Shame I no longer own a vehicle with those god forsaken things (particularly on the V6 Omega) ;D

Sticky labels, markers, on all the consumables! :o :o

Blimey, I thought I was the prehistoric one on here who was non-tech, when all I use is a spreadsheet that tells me everything I need to know about when parts were replaced, mileage, date, cost, so therefore I know when to change them.  You old fashioned so and so's!! ::) ::) ;D ;D ;D ;)

A Spreadsheet is mighty inconvenient when you're under the bonnet. Plus its an office wamker tool.

A spreadsheet is as much use as a box of receipts. You have to remember to check. A label under the bonnet is there every time you open it. Even my local garage stick labels on the underside of the bonnet, don't think they own a computer.   ;D

open the bonnet, read the label, decide what to do. I can do that in much less time than you can read your spreadsheet. I can't read it at all! I do set an alarm in my calendar a fortnight before the MOT runs out, which goes off the same day the garage text me with the same details.

Old fashioned doesn't mean ineffective. And I've better things to do than create spreadsheets for things that don't need them: marker on the consumables, invoice in the paperwork folder.

It is a personal choice! ::) ::) ::)

For me, who has used them in modern business times as an essential business tool along with budget sheets, balance sheets, and Profit & Loss accounts, it makes every sense, and I can simply look at the spreadsheet to see when things have been done, the mileage, cost (with running total) and when things need doing.  I don't have to go around the engine bay looking for stickers with limited information.  I can do it in the comfort of my home.

If TB had used a spreadsheet he would not have forgotten when cam belts had been changed, which started this part of the thread off ::) ::) ::) :P

I used to stick the label supplied with the cam belt kit on the driver's door pillar, with a mileage and a date.

that also works. Add another with the tyre pressures and wheel torque settings.

A spreadsheet is a tool for doing complex calculations on a set of numbers. *NOT* for creating tables  >:(

I find those peel off by themselves, although I stuck mine under bonnet.

And that is what mine does ::) ;)

But, hey, I understand you hate spreadsheets when I don't.

End of story! ::) ::) :)

We don't hate spreadsheets. But they're like using using a laser level, expensive adjustable cordless drill and complicated fastener for a job that a hammer, nail and weighted string will accomplish just as well.

Plus Excel, being a bloody Office Tosser tool, runs like a sack of shite on my phone, and I rarely drag a PC under the car with me
