As per a few of my recent posts the omega has been getting a lot of attention. Finished vinyling the door cards today. Very pleased with the results. Much nicer than the scratches that were on there. Fixed some mechanical niggles too. And fixed one of my HIDs that suddenly stopped working.

Anyway tomorrow is major valet day. The old magic eraser is coming out 🤣 One thing I’d love to sort is the handbrake gaiter, the gearstick gaiter (automatic) and my sport button has lost the “S” marking.

Handbrake gaiters are not sold by Vauxhall’s anymore. Anyone know of a good generic one?

The gearstick gaiter... no idea what to do. It’s not as bad as the handbrake leather but would be lovely to get a new one.

And the sport button. Can I pop this off with a pick and replace?

Whatever gaiters you buy, there will be some fitting involved.


That will require a smear of upholstery contact adhesive, and a few seconds with a needle and thread if you don't like a cable tie to gather the top.


I used the readily available for about £15 on Ebay Omega gaiters, and had both the brake and gearlever done in less than an hour. Black leather with black stitching for looks.


They're small parts, but make a big improvement to the interior for the small outlay in cost/effort

With little this being a pattern part I can attach this with no stitching I believe. I’ll order and see how they go 😃

You will need to undo part of the top stitching to get it over the auto gearshift head ..then turn it inside out and re stitch it using a curved needle and some strong thread.....well thats how I did mine .Its almost a reversal of how you removed the old cover

The base section will need some adhesive to get it secured on the plastic insert and then just tease any looose edges with a thin blade .

Its all quite straightforward really

Thanks Amba much appreciated. In all these years I’ve never replaced one. I’ve removed manual ones to get at shift linkages etc but never had to get the needle and thread out 🤣😃😃😃👍👍👍

Every one I've ever fitted come with a 'drawstring' which you simply pull tight and tie-off.
