General Car Chat / MOT success
« on: 15 May 2019, 12:54:20 »
Having spent all yesterday preparing the Omega for its annual MOT the good news it has passed today and no advisories.

Not bad for a 1998 car.

Omega General Help / Air Con Condesor - Starting to fall apart
« on: 08 November 2011, 17:42:50 »
I removed the underbody tray on my V6 Omega to have a shuffty underneath prior to it's annual MOT and found large pieces of aluminium cooling fins.  :(

Assumed they were from the radiator but on closer examination I found that they were from the lower section of the air con condensor (on the inside next to the radiator).

The air con stills works ok and the condensor has no obvious leaks but it is the original (1998 model) and I guess is one it's way out.

I also have another Omega (1997 model) so I checked it's condensor. Guess what? Exactly the same type of damage! :-\

So well worth checking. I found it easier to remove the centre plastic cover at the front of the engine bay and look down between the radiator and condesnor.

Looks like it's going to get expensive  >:(

Hi there. Having an annoying problem with my radio. (non Bose Philips CCRT 700). Original factory fit in 1999.

When switching on from the ignition or radio On/Off switch the preferred preset radio station is not being recognised and the radio is constantly searching for a station as if the memory has been lost. The screen says "MEM" followed by rolling station numbers.

The only way I can lock onto a station is by pressing the relevant preset button.

Anyone else having this problem

Newbie Welcome Area / Hi, Yet another 'newbie'
« on: 12 October 2006, 12:58:54 »
Hi, what a great forum. Only just discovered you. I am an escapee from the vauxhall owners network forum which had suddenly lost a number of the regular contributors (wondered where some of you had disappeared to!!!).

I drive two omegas, a 98 2.5 Elite in perfect nick and only 40K miles on the clock and the leather hardly creased and a 99 2.5 CDX with 50K miles which I have owned since new and which has slowly been converted to the Elite spec over the years.

Just finished fitting the Xenons (complete with self leveling equipment) and the leather interior with memory functions etc)

Both cars have never let me down but that is probably due to the fact I do all my servicing myself inluding the dreaded cam belt change but you are never too old to learn new tricks (I do let Vauxhall's do an annual oil change so I can get a  stamp in the servic history) . Found the 'How To..' sections really useful. Keep up the good work.

General Car Chat / MOT pass - Yippee!

One of my Omega's lives for another 12 months and no advisories   :y

I get so tense whilst they do the test. It's like waiting for exam results. Then there is the pressure of fixing it if it does fail   >:(

General Car Chat / Trade Card Expiry
« on: 15 October 2010, 11:28:00 »
Hello, as a regular user of TC for business use I was surprised to note that my current membership card had expired at the end of July 2010 and I had not received a replacement.

I presumed that a replacement would be sent but to avoid any future embarrassment at the parts department I rang the guy in charge of Trade Club (Vauxhall Luton) to see if he could send me a replacement.

He was not surprised and suggested that they were not sending out new ones until the new Trade Book in 2011.

On visiting my local dealer they happily processed my order as usual but I was ready for a "battle" if they had said no.

Has anyone received a replacement TC card recently?

Just passed the MOT without any advisories. It's like waiting for exam results!!! Don't you just hate it?
So another Omega goes on for another year.
