Positive discrimination is just as dangerous as open racism.

There's a lot to be said for genuine proportional representation in the workplace/media/wider society...

But...

It would appear that even suggesting such a rational and considered thing is as bad as spitting at blacks and gays.

God forbid that someone should get a job on merit. For example.

I don't believe the race problem is as big as people are making out in this the country. I honestly believe the problem is a class problem. Granted a significant number of minorities live in deprived areas, but these are still predominantly white areas. The biggest divide is between those with money and those without. If we had a race problem, we wouldn't have Asian doctors, who prove perfectly that even though their parents may have faced a race problem and a 'ceiling', they have overcome the adversity and made it one of the most respected professions. Should they have those jobs because they are a minority, no. They should have those jobs because they have worked hard and earned the right to be called a doctor.

However and sadly, it's just easier for people to shout RACIST at me.

S'funny but I mentioned that only last night to Mrs Olympia .
I was watching "Supershoppers " on ITV , I believe ,and every person bar the second of the two presenters were bame. At the end of the programme I was a little more than irritated .
Most ,as in almost all , adverts now have a wonderfully happy mixed race couple with their carefully shaded kids featured .
Bring back the Hovis adverts of the 70's say I ......

I have a relative who works in the media, I question them about the fact, that the Media seems to be going very colourful, she said it's all to do with the new diversity legislation. FFS.

The balance or imbalance of how different races are represented on TV and in the media is, like a lot of things a product of design by committee.

Very few companies will lose sales through an 'over-representation' of bame people in their advertising, whereas an allegation of being racist could easily do so, because we live in an era of trial by social media. So, from the company's perspective, it makes sense for them to use bame actors/actresses regardless of whether it accurately represents their target demographic or not.

Those who don't like it will, I am sure, vote with their wallets.

I believe that the problem has very little to do with racism and mo to do with territorialism. We are being overwhelmed by large numbers of those wo do not subscribe to our culture and seek to make it their own. If they don't like it here, they know what they can do!

I was listening to mangina Jeremy Vine this afternoon. Black woman talks about BLM and racism. No counter argument from Mr Vine, or anyone else for that matter though.
