Nickname
« on: 27 December 2014, 15:59:42 »

Hi all,

my father in law told me this about the nickname of one of his colleagues, whos nickname is "The child" . Well, when this guy used to be ten yrs old he'd got really big size foot that was actually 45. (For comparising my size now is 42 that counts average) Once his mother tried to buy to him a pair of shoes and for the question of seller about the proper size she answered " What size? A child size, of course."   ;D

Do you have a good story about origin of a nick?

Merry Christmas anyway!

We live in a small rural village in Spain.

It is very common for people to have nicknames. Some are quite disparaging. Probably best we don't know our nicknames.

We Brits come along and give folk our own nicknames. Papa Smurf for a guy who unusually has white hair for example. The custom of naming children with 1st child getting paternal first name and secand maternal name means entire villages have many Miguels, Juans and so on. We have Juan the Gas, Juan the water, Juan the worm, Party Miguel and so on.

"Terrier" was one of the polite nicknames given to me in business by the directors after my successes in hunting down dishonest/criminal employees, at all levels, never giving up in my investigations until I had them collared.  Very satisfying days! ;D ;D ;D :y :y

At workplace twenty years ago, I was called Hairy Monster. Due to long hair and beard, it was carried over to my banger racing name and is in its now shortened form of monster441 for my ebay account
