The trip computer reads 25.1 MPG for 111.8 miles.
It took 22.82 litres to completely fill the tank again.
Anyone any good at maths?.....because I can't work it out. :-\
-
A gallon is 4.546 litres ......
22.82/4.546 = 5.02gall
118.9 miles divided by 5.02 gall = 23.7mpg
Best not to woody about mpg when you're running a Jaaag :y :y :y

111.8.miles......which makes it worse. :)

My Astra shows 45, brim to brim is 42. A significant difference.

I wonder where I got that from ... :-\ which goes to show why you should always show your workings ;D

Using your calculations the real MPG is 22.29 and not 25.1.
Only about 90% accurate then.
-
Only 88 % accurate if I'm being pedantic. ::)
-
Just as good on fuel as my 3.2 Omega, I really should get a V8 :D
-
Doesn't sound too bad for such an engine, much can depend of course on how those 111.8 miles were covered-town/distance/mixed driving.Computer on my Elite is showing 14.5 ave at present but that's still altering after I recently reset it and it's only done journeys of not more than 3mls at a time.
-
My Jag over estimates by about 15% as well, and it seems most do. I fail to understand why, particularly with direct injection, and even M could get it within 1mpg 25yrs ago...

Not that you can explain that to a Jag owner on a Jag forum ;D
-
Presumably it uses the overreading speedo for its information rather than the drivetrain... :-\

There was the cynic in me thinking they massively over read the MPG so as to not scare its owners, all of whom are too lazy to check manually, so will argue point blank they all get an easy 50mpg from a 300bhp 3.0l V6 diesel...
...but after reading your comments...
...I still think I'm right ;D
-
take it your driving it on roads ? with hills, traffic ,bends , and on days when it may be hot
so , probably not going to get MPG quoted in selling bumf
real world testing is what i do, fill up, reset the trip on the speedo
see how far i get , fill up ,calculate
my 2.6 is about 28 mpg by my maths, the computer says 24
it;s probably upset with me for sorting the N/S level sensor ,so it can't nag me anymore :P

Wow, I've never seen a (unchipped/unmapped) v6 be more than 1mpg out.
Press and hold the 2 buttons on the stalk - S and R for 3 secs, and post up the 3 figures. I'll check if your config is right.
-
And I NEVER expect to get anywhere near manufacturers figures. I simply can't drive like our resident Sky employee.
-
I think it was Darth Lo-knee who said to me "you drive like a cock" ;D

Ok , thanks , will do soon , :)
just taking pics of bonnet catch thingey for help on another thread And I NEVER expect to get anywhere near manufacturers figures. I simply can't drive like our resident Sky employee.
I'm still driving like a girl ;D getting better with the omega , but it's a big change from my Carlton
(which returned 30 + MPG ;D )

Can't seem to get any config data or code by pressing s (on left stalk) and R (on right stalk) for 3 sec. engine on or off (accessory position)
just scrolls through the normal tripe like trip dist 575.7 , consumption 0 =19.6 trip consumption 0= 45.2 speed 0 =22 M/H
so that has changed since i last looked ???
maybe i need to read that book in the glove box ;D
also ,whilst I do not let peasants reside on my back seat ever, i do carry a boot full of tools ,probably the equivalent weight of a couple of fat people , dunno if that makes a difference :-\
-
Both buttons on right (wiper) stalk, labelled S and R (from memory - mine is NCDC equipped)

22.8mpg average currently on the 3.2, not been reset since last year.
It does run far, far better now it’s my daily commuter and not used just weekly for odd run.
-
24.0 from my 3.2 with no motorway driving. Im now officially a slower driver than Tunnie. YAY. ;D

I managed 35mpg over last couple of tankfuls (I was actually able to fill it at Tescos yesterday now fuel prices have eased, to calculate the readings). I'm a bit embarrased that clearly I'm not trying hard enough.
For Opti's benefit, the FC claimed 39mpg

is that the config ? TIA
save me getting out the code reader :-X
so,less than 20 mpg ?
-
Let me look that up, as I'm sat in bath doing nothing else
-
084 is correct for Y26SE with 225/55/16 tyres and HID headlights.

thanks , no rush
I know i get better than 20 MPG but it may be a GIGO issue as i still not read the manual ,dunno what the buttons do :-[

yes , tyres are correct ,hid dipped beams :y
maybe i need to reset the computer when i fill up
i did have that issue with missfire recently (new plugs and coil pack fitted )
thanks for the help :y
-
Yes, reset at next brim, and then check it when you brim again, and compare you manual calculations over same period.
If there is any discrepancy (>1mpg), worthy of investigation, as the GM ones seem to be bang on (assuming maps haven't been fiddled)

Waaaay, steady on chap ;D. No need to get in touch with your feminine side if you don't want to.
(I confess, I read a PFL one cover to cover before I bought my first, for research purposes. In same way I read the (really crap) XJ manual cover to cover before looking at any)

That's a very good point , I could get Mrs Builder to read it . and ask her what to do :y
there's a lot more tech on these omega things than my departed Carlton
(which i'm still finding parts for squirreled away , whilst hiding new parts i'm stocking up on for the mega )

Presumably in the Jaaaag rather than the Omega ! :o

I get 27-28 mpg out of my 3 litre S-Type which gets driven fast used every day.
Oh wait, that's the ford jaaaag computer reading. Let me do a brim test and get back to you ;D

Still better than the XJR was.
