Is it just me or is the forum running a bit slow tonight, header appears right away, followed by quite a pause before the threads appear. :-?
-
Just hit 10pm - forum backup script runs hourly, could have been that. May have collided with one of the stat jobs as well...
Is it still slow?

Just noticed it slow up somewhat as described. Still, if a backup is in progress, that'll be why.

Yeah, has been running a bit hot, but looks like its calming down slowly....

Well thanks for that, Jaime. Haven't you got any hieroglyphics you could throw in? :(

The backups run on the hour, and normally take a couple of mins to tar up and ftp to another server. There are various other jobs that run that take considerably longer, and if they collide, this can cause slowdowns as well.
As our Redhat server is not real, but a virtual machine in VMWare, it is dependent on disk subsystem of the host server, Win2003 in this case. If that is busy, that can also affect the response...

The only load i know is how many tiles i can get in the back of the meega before it gets too heavy. HU cPanel must be a new type of plasterboard and the server is the guy who takes my money off me over the counter :D Does that help you EP

Took it down. Had enuff. No e-mail for 4 days, site is off more than it is on. I was tempted just not to pay the hosting cos i didn't get my invoice, because they are not capable of providing e-mail functions. You know the story. >:(
Anyway, on the upside, just signed up with my new host across the pond, so it's just a case of migrating now which i'm in the process of doing. The response i've had from them so far has been first class. [smiley=thumbsup.gif]

I'd be interested in hearing how you get on with new host...
