Are we slow?
« on: 28 September 2006, 22:11:04 »

Is it just me or is the forum running a bit slow tonight, header appears right away, followed by quite a pause before the threads appear.  :-?

Just hit 10pm - forum backup script runs hourly, could have been that. May have collided with one of the stat jobs as well...

Is it still slow?

It's got slightly faster, but it's quite a bit slower than it was today.

Just noticed it slow up somewhat as described.  Still, if a backup is in progress, that'll be why.

Well thanks for that, Jaime. Haven't you got any hieroglyphics you could throw in? :(

The backups run on the hour, and normally take a couple of mins to tar up and ftp to another server.  There are various other jobs that run that take considerably longer, and if they collide, this can cause slowdowns as well.

As our Redhat server is not real, but a virtual machine in VMWare, it is dependent on disk subsystem of the host server, Win2003 in this case. If that is busy, that can also affect the response...
