General Discussion Area / What do we drive today
« on: 12 January 2022, 01:53:30 »
So, it's been a long while since i was on here, some of you may remember, some will have forgotten me and others will have absolutely no idea who the hell i am 🙄
I moved over to Perth Australia 10 years ago so maybe that long since i was last on here (Its good to still see some familiar names as i look through the posts) and since my time here have owned a few Holden Commodores, a ute (Pick up to you poms), a 4wd estate and saloons, sadly not a Monaro,  v6 and v8 models from the familiar shape we had back in the Uk to the last VE/VF model.

All have been fun, some frustrating and some downright bloody terrible, the 4wd v8 crewman Ute was awesome and the latter VE estate a stunning looking and driving car in V8 form, although petrol is half the price here than in the UK, popping out to see a friend can often mean a 300+ KM round trip and i struggled to keep pace with the rapid rate the big V8 consumed her drink and alas with the demise of Holden (Thanks GM 😢) i decided to move on to a different make

I currently run a 2015 Audi A6 S-line Quattro with the 3.0 V6 supercharged engine, oh what a car and oh what an engine, linear power from the minute you tickle the throttle and right through to the red line, it makes you realise how engineering has progressed and makes the Commodore seem very agricultural in comparison.

Would i have another Commodore, maybe if the right one came along, the last of the VE Estates would be my choice in V8 form and as a sunday driver only, it would have to be the right car though in the right colour and in the right trim level

So, after all that i got to thinking what everyone back in the Uk now drives, on my last visit back two years ago i think i only saw one Omega in the whole of the 3 weeks i was there so i guess they are becoming a bit thin on the ground

Would be really interested to hear what the vehicle of choice is for everyone these days if you no longer drive an omega

Cheers

Omega General Help / Steamy windows
« on: 21 January 2010, 16:37:34 »
After frolicking about on the rear seat with an Icelandic blond with gorgeous blue eyes.................................no hang on, reality check, after the car gets warm and the heater kicks in the windows start to steam up badly, this has only just started to happen and i suspect the heater matrix may well be leaking as there is no damp in the car at all, so i was wondering, A, if my prognosis is correct and B, what sort of a job is it to change? Has anyone here done this before and if so any pointers would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks in advance

Omega General Help / Fitting a crank sensor to a dti
« on: 13 December 2009, 13:11:37 »
Just wondered if anyone has done one of these on a dti before, as per my last thread i have decided it is the crank sensor so will be replacing it, just wondered if it is a reasonably straight forward job?

Omega General Help / DTI INTERMITENT LIMP MODE
« on: 10 December 2009, 19:36:41 »
Well, the DTI has been running so well, have done nearly 10k in it over the last 7 months and its never missed a beat, in fact i only thought last week that it seems to be pulling better than it ever has, and then last night all went wrong, i was driving along when for no apparent reason the rev counter stopped working along with heated rear screen and MID and the engine would not run at much more than an idle, i tried to get home and after a couple of miles everything started working again and all was well, then again today the same thing happened, i just kept my foot buried in the floor and after a little while all was well again. So does anybody have any ideas, she is just short of 200k by 40 miles but has been well looked after, i dont think it is pump as these tend to fail full stop so guessing it could be crank, cam or lamber sensor or could it be the cat, i say the cat because as previously mentioned over the last week or so the car has seemed to pull so much better and i think i detected a slight difference in exhaust note, though that may just be physcological. So any thoughts please, all suggestions very welcome, and Mark DTM, if all fails and i can get to you would you do me a code read, would this pinpoint it?

Thanks in advance

Omega General Help / No accelerator
« on: 12 August 2009, 21:37:04 »
I have been to lookat a 2001 CDX estate with leather, it has a genuine 83000 mls on the clock and is a four pot petrol version. The problem with the car is that there is no accelerator, by which i mean the car starts, selects gears (auto) but when the go pedal is pressed..............nothing, i know these are FBW so what could the worse case sinario be, the car has been offered to me for 300 nicker, just dont want to buy it and end up throwing endless amounts of money at it to sort it out. Any suggestions would be greatly received.

Thanks in advance

Omega General Help / Total climate control failure
« on: 04 July 2009, 11:46:20 »
Over the last three days i have just coverd nearly 1000 miles with no problems at all untill about 10 miles from home, i came to a junction and stopped and the climate panel went dead, no fans, aircon, nothing, i tried to turn it back on again while waiting for the lights to change but it showed nothing. When i started moveing again i tried to turn it on again and it all struck up and worked fine untill i stopped again when it all went dead again and now it will not turn on at all, either stood still or moving. It is a 2002 CDX DTI, just wondered if anyone has any ideas what the problem could be as all help would be much appriciated.

Thanks in advance

Omega General Help / Another SHOCKING question
« on: 04 July 2007, 22:16:51 »
Just noticed my NSR self leveling shocker on the elite est is starting to weep, does anyone know of a sensible replacement? Is it best to go GM route or are there some good and sensibly priced aftermarket units out there? All help greatly received, i dont want to weep like my shocker at the price  ;)

Cars for Sale & wanted / F.S My 1999 2.5 elite estate
« on: 13 April 2009, 15:54:16 »
Well the time has come for me to say goodbye to my omega as i pick up my new one on friday so she has to go. I have had her for three years and it has given me faultless service, when i bought it it had a full SH and has been looked after by myself ever since having the oil changed every 3000 miles. Over the last 12 months or so i have replaced the diss pack, HBV, fitted new cam cover gaskets and done a total clean out of the breather system, and fitted new plugs. It has also had all four disk's and pads replaced and two new tyres recently fitted to the rear. The body work is in fantastic condition, apart from a small bubble of rust appearing under the griffin badge on the tailgate there is no other rust on the car and looks stunning in its premium blue colour. The inside has cloth intirior which is unmarked and everything works as it should, it is fitted with the radio/phone and has the bose system installed. It is taxed untill the end of this month and tested untill the end of next. As far as i am aware the only things that it will need in the near future are a couple of tyres on the front and possibly the front wishbones replacing. It also has a slight blow from the O/S manifold, this goes as soon as it is warm, i do have a new gasket for it but have never fitted it. It is also fitted with a whitter towbar.  It has covered 180,000 miles but does run as smooth as it has ever run and regulary does a return journey to eastbourne in faultless form. I am only replacing it as i have bought a diesel omega as i am now covering greater distances, had i have not been doing so then i would not have even considered selling her. All in all this will make someone a fantastic car and i hope it goes to a good home where it will be looked after as i have done. If you have any questions then please PM me. Thanks for looking.

P.S, number plate is not included and it is now fitted with its head light washers  :y

Just a few photos of my 1999 omega elite which i have owned for just over a year now. It has done 160000 miles but runs as sweet as a nut and came with a full vx sevice history and as you can see has been well looked after by its previous two owners, the only thing i have had to replace in 7000 miles was the heater bypass valve which i think is a commom problem, the only other thing is the headlight washer jets have decided to fall off !!!!!!!!!!!. Hope you like my steed and thanks all for a great site, cheers, Jez

General Car Chat / Omega Heaven in Australia
« on: 26 March 2010, 22:24:59 »
Well, i have just returned from a month in Australia where it seems every other car is an omega or to be more precise Holden Commodores, the range is massive from V6's to V8's, saloons to LWB estates, and ute's in both 2 and 4 door form which look fantastic. The new commodore (omega) looks a fantastic car and having driven one can say is a lovely car to drive, the only question is why oh why do they not bring them to England, they are better than anything that VX offer and are a direct replacement for our Omega!!!  >:( :-? :-/

« on: 15 December 2009, 00:51:38 »

General Car Chat / MOT Pass
« on: 30 October 2009, 17:04:55 »
Well, took the DTi for its MOT, didn't have too much time to give her the once over and TBH having 198K on the clock i did have a few reservations but i need not have worried, she flew through and the tester commented on how good it is for the mileage it has covered, to say i am chuffed would be an understatement  :y :y
