Hi there,

vauxhall garage would charge me over £250 just to replace £16 worth seal in diff.

Any chance I could do it myself without pit?

It's omega 3.2 V6 with two exhaust pipes.

i did it last week using the maintenance guide suggested by auto addict, and it worked a treat  
i used ramps and chocks and took a few photos which can be found here-->

(only three drops of oil came out having used the peela pump to suck it dry)

I didnt take any further pictures because the battery on my camera ran out (i left it on) and the old oil seal was a mission to remove (stuck fast :/ )

This took me a day to do (i took my time cos im a novice) but all went well i think - there are no further leaks and the counting flats was very useful too. It was a workout on my neck and stomach too cos i was under the car for a long time.

Also you could add an 8mm allen key to the list of tools.  :yThumbs Up!

I found that the latest engines (2.2, 2.6 and 3.2) suffer more from diff seal failure than old ones. Most of them are leaking while old ones are still clean and tidy. Is it because new diff ratio?

I doubt it's anything to do with the ratio. More likely a batch of bad quality seals. Mine is looking very slightly damp around the pinion seal.  

Not bad enough to make it worth doing anything about it yet.

I have a V-reg 2.0 BFL and diff is clean, but in my second 2.2 BFL (new diff's ratio) it's leaking . There must be something because this problem is very common in Omegas with new engines.
