Ah, the Finns. They are bonkers :y I know a guy over there who had a 450hp MR2 Roadster for summer and his "winter beater for the snow" was a Mk3 Supra ;D ;D

Ideal winter car, the Supra. ;D

A mate of mine bought one years back, but only because he oversteered into a lamp post on the test drive and decided that purchase was the best way out of the predicament. ::)

 ;D ;D ;D I have a soft spot for the Mk3 & Mk4, but I don't think I have a bank balance large enough for one! 80s & 90s Japanese cars make an Omega look positively rust-free..

Though if money were no object, I'd have one of these as a project: http://www.mzr-datsun240z.co.uk/en/

I was offered a 240z for £70 in 1979. It was 7 or 8 years old, but far too much rust to be worth bothering with, at the time.  ::)

I've always loved the 240z, but memories of my Grandad's brand new 120y in the 1970's, where the tops of the front wings rusted through in 18 months from purchase, have prevented temptation in that area.

Mechanical and electrical gremlins I don't mind, but a bodywork nightmare just wouldn't be fun. :(

Talking of projects, I was told about a Vauxhall nut in Norn Irn a few days ago who is building replicas of Big Bertha and Baby Bertha from the originals drawings & build sheets.
Apparently his interesting collection includes a mint Chevette HSR.
Next time Im over there, I may be able to go and take a look.  :)

seems entirely reasonable to me :y

We were talking the other day about 4wd Metros; using a Freelander engine, box, transfer box and diff was one solution. I prefer the idea of two 1.8 K-series engines, using an extra MGF subframe(I've an angle grinder and welder) in the back. A 3.6l 4WD Metro for less than £2k sounds dangerous interesting.

Who needs another project when I have the gold shed with its almost non existent handbrake and rotten rear drivers sill and a coolant and oil leak. plenty of work to be getting on with without dragging some other pile home.

That's more like a bit of light relief from a real project. Like a jet Espace or 4WD Metro :y
