Okay, just replaced the oil cooler / full oil and filter change.
Filled it up with water and fresh oil and turned the key.
It fires up first time with no problems.
Had a look underneath as you do only to see fresh engine oil pishing down behind the block

Got underneath there with the torch expecting to see it coming from around the filter housing only to find it is coming out of (what looks) like a hole in the block above the filter housing, near the down pipe / exhaust manifold

Anybody got any ideas on this please ??
I'll try and take a picture later when I get these pigging oil soaked clothes off

The oil cooler pipes bolt into the block around about there

Did you bend the cooler pipes or take them off if you bent them out the way probably cracked one and oil coming out. $:-\$

I'm just charging my camera batteries now but it looks to me that its coming from the engine block above where the oil cooler pipes are

Yes, the pipes was undone at both ends

It could be the top end of the oil pipes not seated properly $:-\$ was there oil there before you did the work if not then it will almost certainly be something you have done i:e not tightened properly or seal not seating

Everything was oil free before I started

I'm beginning to think that one of the pipes onto the oil cooler hasn't sealed properly $:-\$
The front of the car is well and truly jacked up so any leak would flow straight back towards the back of the engine and work its way down $:-\$

Opinions please before I pull the plenum / fannymold off AGAIN

So dry before and now oil then it must be the pipes not seating properly even so you need to take the plenum off to get a proper look

Managed to tap out what was left of the old bolt with a hammer and screwdriver so its just a case of new washers and a bolt

Okay, new banjo bolts and washers should be here tomorrow but i've concerns about the thread on the oil cooler $:-\$
After my soon to be dismembered son had knackered the last bolt and i'd managed to remove what was left of it with careful use of a hammer and screwdriver, my gut instinct says the internal thread may be dodgy $:-\$

Just in case, would a nice dose of Blue Hylomar type substance ~~blathered~~ carefully applied to the thread of the new bolt do the trick $:-\$

What makes you think it is a problem is the thread clean does there look like there is anything left there, I would use new washers too and gently and slowly do it up if it feels at all dodgy then I suspect the thread in the cooler is bollaxed.

Put it back together yesterday and took it for a 20 mile drive with no oil leak problems

Now it looks like while flushing the radiator out, i've cracked one of the cores
