Omega General Help / Re: Autobox - 1,2, neutral !!!
« on: 12 June 2009, 21:27:29 »
Golden rule of autobox issues:

Start with ATF change and filter clean/replace, then see how goes.

Also, keep in mind that on the meega the ATF get changed by dropping the two sumps, and only around half of the stuff get changed (~4.5L out of ~9L).

And ignore Vx 'never needs replacing' attitude towards ATF change...

hydraulic valves - yes.

If noise is from top of engine, two quick oil changes (1,000 miles interval), if still persists try Wynn's Hydraulic Valve Lifter Treatment.

http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_catalogId_10151_storeId_10001_partNumber_268607_langId_-1

If noise if from bottom end, especially if knocking, then FUBAR...

I was going to say that... but then he did not say how many he already has  :)

True!  :y :y

Markjay's golden rule is that under-fourteens should never occupy the front seat of a moving vehicle regardless of belt/airbag/crash-helmet etc!

As for baby's when put in a the front seat they are also distraction to their mother parent-person* who WILL try to change the nappy while negotiating a B-road...

As far as I am aware the seal is integrated to the windscreen, so replacement is not straightforward.

Silicon sealant is not guaranteed to fix it but then again worth trying first.

Beware, it need 18mm socket, not all older socket sets have 18mm

Indeed... :(

When I did it... I had to leave my car parked in the street all jacked-up with the bits on the pavement, and bus it to the nearest motor factors to get an 18mm socket! Luckily they were open on the Saturday :)
Why is that? even hardened socket sets often miss 18 out. All the more annoying as some other marques wheel nut sizes use 18....?

And 14mm is another rarity....   :(

Omega General Help / Re: Disconnecting egr on 2.2dti
« on: 25 May 2009, 21:20:07 »
Also... I don't have a diesel, but from what I read, it seems that on turbo-diesel engine it is NOT recommended to disconnect the EGR as it can (somehow..) interfere with the turbo pressures. Did anyone hear about this? :-?

Omega General Help / Re: Getting hot then stalling
« on: 25 May 2009, 21:25:06 »
Re temp - as said.

My V6 Omegas used to go up-and-down between 85-97, especially when sat in traffic. Quite normal. As long as it does not actually get to 100, this is fine. The stalling is probably NOT related to the temp which is OK.
