Step 1

Lift out the rubber cup holder and the handbrake gaiter

Step 2

Slide both front seats right forward and undo these bolts

Step 3

In the place where the rubber cup holder was undo these 2 bolts

Step 4

Lift out (up and backwards) the central arm rest

Step 5

Undo these screws and then lift out the rubberised slotted cover that usually clamps the handbrake gaiter

Step 6

Now you have removed the rubberised handbrake gaiter clampy bit you'll see 2 more bolts; undo these

Step 7

Gently prise the gearshift gaiter out and then prise up the plastic surround that contains the gear indicator lights. You will not have to disconnect the wires as the console trim will eventually lift over all of this.

Then undo the screws as indicated in the picture below and then slide the, now free, trim forward slightly.

Step 8

The wooden trim now having been moved forward should expose these 2 bolts; undo them

Once you have all of this undone you will find that you can (with some force) manage to start to move the whole central console back in the car by about an inch. Once you have done this you should find you can lift the trim out.

Replacement is the reverse.

Hope that helps ;y

They do appear to be a lot of leads for ipod that just enable you to connect up the ipod (electrically) in place of CD Changer, allowing head unit controls (and steering wheel controls) to control the ipod.  The ones I've seen, you create 6 (or 10) playlists on the ipod, and these become the 'CDs' as far as the headunit is concerned.

So just to check here; If I'm running a facelift Elite which has the standard head unit & 4 disc changer and have a CID in the dash (soon  :y) then would this mean that there is a solution which allows, with an iPod, the track names to be accessed through the steering wheel and head unit controls and show up on the CID as they were playing?

The lights in the boot lid are bigger than the ligths in teh US "trunk-lid" and are different shapes too.

Read the whole thread.

You'd need to change your boot-lid to change the lights as they are a different shape (shorter).

IMHO it looks bl00dy terrible.

Probably look better if both inner & outer lights were off a Catera. Your picture has the white parts diagonally opposite each other rather than side by side.  :y

Uurh....

That was the whole point. See the thread of the conversation above. The question was "how would it look if only the outer lights were changed?"

If I wanted t show how the whole lot would look I would have just referred to the original picture of the Catera, or at best brushed out the long brake light.

See the quote below which will explain:

i guess you could get away with it, but only if you replaced the light clusters in the wing, and not the boot.

Cause the fog light is in the light cluster on the boot.

But i don't think it would look quite right  :-/

photoshop maybe, anyone ;)

Too much like hard work  ;D

And after 30 minutes of "hard work". I know the pics aren't that good, but there was limit to how much time I was prepared to devote to the task.

IMHO it looks bl00dy terrible.

I quite like the full width high level brake light, even though I'm generally not that in favour of high/eye level brake lights - if cars had separate brake lights, rather than stop/tail lights I don't think they'd be necessary.

Each one to his own I suppose. It is a subjective thing that long light.

As to the virtues of high level brake lights; I think that the main benefit is being able to see the brake lights of the car in front of the car in front, if you know what I mean. You can see through cars to see other people's brake lights which is a good thing. Personally I find them good things.

Again, another case of each to his own, but I think that they have been proven to reduce rear end shunts. Whether that is because of your argument on stop/tail lights or not would be difficult to argue against really.

Nope.

Fog lights are an issue as mentioned ^.

These are facelift. Check the difference. White below in Europe, red below in USA.

To swap the ones on the wings that you're talking about you would also need to change the lights on the bootlid which are a different shape to the European ones. You then need to start looing at a new Catera boot-lid.

Catera boot lids have a hole cut into them for a hideous high level brake light that runs near on the entire width of the car and would dissapear under an Irmsher / Elite / MV6 boot lip spoiler.

To have a spoiler you'd be looking at the one fitted to a Catera Sport (see below).

This car started out life as a Catera Sport and then has been modified (re-badged) as an Omega to make it unique over there, but as you can see he has stopped short of the rear light conversion because of the reverse of all the issues mentioed above.

Mine did this on and off for about a month about 6 months ago and then never since.

Weird. I reckon there must have been a mouse inside the car setting it off or something.

There are many differences about construction, materials used, layers etc etc, but teh main difference is that the recordable discs use much smaller "dots" and closer "Tracks" to record the data.

The older CD players were never designed to focus on something this small, and basically they are straining so hard to du so that they wear out prematurely.

This was covered in quite some detail a few months ago, maybe someone else can find and post a link to the thread?

Bottom line though, don`t use modern CDR`s on old CD players, or any OEM in Car unit pre 2005 that does not have MP3 logo on the front. MP3 units are an exception, as they have been designed to cope with the modern / computer type discs for data.

 ;)

This may be what you are referring to:

Although I have seen you involved in this discussion many, many times on here.

I'm just about to fork out the £76 for a genuine NavTeq 2008/9 disk; you know you should.

Mine behaves exactly like TB's. My disk is one year older than his. I belive that he currently has 2007/8, whilst I have 2006/7.

I didn't have that option at all with my previous 2001 disk.

I'm just about to drive to TB's now. Will provide an update when I get back.

No don't stop banging on about it. This is a post worth watching.

If I can do anything to work on this I will too.

13
I have an Elite facelift with a Siemens NCDC2013 head unit and currently have the 2006/7 disk.

One of the lads who works for me had an accident recently in one of my company cars. Whilst it was being repaired, he was given a Vectra C Elite '58' plate as a courtesy car.

It had a Vx standard fitment head unit (can't remember the model now) with NavTeQ (NavTech) sat nav built in. We tried his 2007/8 disk in my car, but it wasn't having anything of it.

You need to make sure that it is not only NavTeq, but is also designed to cover you particular head unit.

Buy a genuine one from ebay don't pirate. Your head unit will last longer anyway as the NCDC head unit lasers are not designed to read CDR disks and over time will wear out more quickly. :y

Is that the bulbs inside the bowl shaped lens? What's the net effect of this upgrade?

Oh, and what does the ballast do and where can I get them?

Yeah the projector bulb, you can get a full upgrade kit, with the HID bulbs and balasts from ebay for £30 upwards.

The difference is amazing, I use the Omega to add light when doing night shots now as the light is almost daylight like.

The range, the sharpness the colour is so much better - I'll stick a normal blub in tonight and do some pics to show the difference later

Look forward to the pictures.

Any chance you could post an ebay link? I'm not sure I'd find the right ones for the Omega.

Is this an upgrade for my 2001 Elite, or are they standard on the Elite facelift?
