Cleaned the Breathers today
« on: 03 September 2006, 16:15:00 »

Many thanks to AA for his top guide. Cleaned the breathers today.

The tiny pipe that comes off the left side of the engine, was full of kak!!  :o

I popped off the pipe, and all this came out:

Then got a wire hanger, and poked that though with some carb cleaner...

Time after time, passing the coat hanger though, the same amount came out! - I have left a nice black stain on the grass  ::)

Other pipes were not too bad, cleaned them up anyway. Should be interesting on its next drive wether it feels and better or improvement in MPG as a lot of dirt came out.

At nearly 100k, I'm not surprised it was bad (knowing the 'servicing' that appeared to happen on yours before you got it).

You never know, when you put your foot down now, it may even accelerate...  ;D

 ;D ;D ;D - Might be able to beat a 1.0 Corsa!  ;D

Unfortunetly the dog as good today, so can't really be mean to her. We forgot to call her in, went outside and she was just lying in the front garden waiting for me.

She's loves chasing the jet of water from the hose!  ;D ;D

I am tempted to take it for a run tomorrow and see how it pulls, the kak in those pipes probably had something to do with my oil going so dark so quickly.

Remember, regular oil changes do help prevent the breathers getting shitty in the first place....

What? Washing his car? About 30 mins for a quick wash, or a couple of hours for a proper wash and wax...   ;D

Sorry, don't know answer to your real q, but wouldn't have thought it would be long, and its worth doing...

If you really wanna impress your Dad Tunnie why dont you try to re-vitalise his paint work on his Omega !

Use a brillo pad, and some swarfega, he'll be sooooooooooooooooooooooooo immpressed  ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Only joking mate i know what you Students are like !  Tie a Mackeral to his exhaust manifold, and then when he complains about the smell, charge him £50 to fix it !

You'll not only be £50 better off, he will be immpressed at what you have learnt to do with fixing these Omegas !!! :-* :-*
