Possibility of a meet in Bucks
« on: 24 March 2011, 23:22:56 »

Hi all.
I am the Treasurer of the trading company that runs the bar and Social Club within our local Community Centre. I could probably get the Community Centre for a Saturday meet with exclusive use of our bars. We have a 60 place car park and two big bars (cheap booze ;D). They are never used during the day on Saturdays. We have some open dates throughout the year, so if there was a decent response I could fix something up. Probably twist swmbo's arm to do sausage rolls etc. Unfortunately, we do not do Main Meals etc. Brewers Fayre 3 miles away at Premier Inn. Or stacks of local Indian, Chink, Fish and Chips etc within a mile .
The location is Community Centre, Rose Avenue, Hazlemere, Bucks, just outside High Wycombe. Access from M40, M25, M1 is very good. Google it for info. :y
If anyone interested, I'll get a booking in on a free day and close the car park. :y

EDIT: Forgot to say we have a Pool Table and dartboards for those who are that way inclined :y

What a good idea, sounds excellent place to hold a meet, although doubt all the parking places would be filled with miggy's!  ;D

It's about 30/35 miles from Oxford, so if it's ok with you...we could make it a joint Oxford/Bucks meet? Hopefully a few Oxford meet members would be able to make it as it's only up the road really.

The fact its indoors (or at least the option of indoors) makes it ideal this time of year :y

If the weather is nice, would we be allowed to have a bbq in the carpark?

Yep Shane....be posting in the next day or so. Had a committee meeting to check and given the ok. Gonna pop up there and take a couple of pics and will post with all dates.
It will probably need a poll for dates, so may need to set one up.
Watch this space.....
Oh, by the way, the BBQ has been dumped, but they have a gas one now, which we can use. :y

These are the facillities on offer. We do now have a gas BBQ.
I'll open the bar and, if it is wet, there is a pool table available if required.
Dates available are as follows:-

May...... 28th, 30th (Bank Holiday Monday)
June..... 4th
July...... 23rd
August.. 6th, 13th, 20th
Sept..... 24th
Other dates are available for winter meets through the latter part of the year, but I need to check with swmbo whether we are here or away.
If this is of interest, maybe someone can do a poll as I will cock it ;D ;D ;D ;D (ask TB) ;D ;D ;D ;D

Muliple options open :y

To be honest, May (Whitsun)  Bank Holiday Monday would be the best option as the place is totally shut for other functions, so there is no pressure on departures. :y but its up to you.

May day seems a good option as the next one in June may clash with Entwoods social do in Swindon...?

Anyone know if the other dates clash, or shall we just go with May day...?

Makes little odds to me which day tbh, so will go with most popular date  :-/

I am with you on that Chris...I think the 30th May Bank Holiday will be the date. Ill give it a couple of more days on the poll to see if interest picks up, then unless there is a total change, 30th it will be.
