Omega General Help / Non standard Immobiliser
« on: 26 August 2009, 18:52:34 »
Hi all
Ive finally done it...... Ive bought myself a Capri 2.8i Special & I love it :) :) :)
The thing is its fitted with an immobiliser that nobody seems to have heard of, & unfortuntely I need a certificate for my insurance, for proof its Thatcham cat 2,now all Ive got to go on is that its called a Preclusion Immobiliser (works on radio Frequency ) (RFID) the fob has no buttons/batteries,it was fitted May 1997 by Roy Hubbard Motors Mkt Hrbrgh,I did contact em but could'nt help me,Records don't go back that far!My local car auto leccy want £30 just to check it  & theres no guarantee it will be approved by Thatcham,
the thing is its a great immob. it fits the criteria of my insurers to a T but they need proof >:(
Can anyone shed any light?

Thanks Lee

« on: 13 July 2009, 17:17:56 »
Hello strangers!! :y

For a few days now I can here a strange sort of squeaking noise coming from the bottom of the engine,
I've investigated it & it sounds like its coming from the bottom pulley,I've not done anything yet till I get some advice from you guys but I was thinking, WD40?! :-/
Oh Its had cambelt kit/water pump fitted recently so I can't see them being a problem.

Omega General Help / Re: SUSPECT HEAD GASKET FAILURE?
« on: 19 May 2009, 11:07:36 »
Thanks thats put my mind at rest :) ;) :y

The guy from the vectra sri forum told me it was the head gasket ,he based it on the fact that my miggy has done 106000 miles & no vauxhall engine will do that mileage without at least a gasket fail!
He now sounds a complete D#@K! ;D

Omega General Help / SUSPECT HEAD GASKET FAILURE?
« on: 19 May 2009, 09:07:06 »
I've been told this,

basically theres brown water (no anti-freeze) in the 4 plug wells, thats it!

I don't think its the head gasket, it has'nt got the tell tail signs of gasket failure, EG; mayo like substance on the dip stick/oil filler cap, no oily deposits in the expansion tank

Any ideas?

Omega General Help / engine missfire
« on: 18 May 2009, 17:48:36 »
Hi its been a long time!!!!!

For the past 2-3 weeks now I've noticed a slight missfire/hesitation at 30-50 mph,it does'nt do it all the time & when it does it seems to correct itself & drive fine that day, :-/theres no engine light coming on or flashing.
It started when I filled up at my local Total petrol station, thinking if the fuel was contaminated but there was no complaints.
I've got to get to the bottom of this cos Im going to Cornwall  for my holls in 2 weeks

Any help would be great  :)

« on: 14 April 2009, 20:59:53 »
My mate has given me one of those flip key remotes it was for his 04 veccy but he sold it,but gave me the key,now I know it won't work my central locking cos mines infra red,all I want it for is the flip cos it looks cool!! ;D
I've bought the blank blade & fitted it,now my problem is I cant get it into the several locksmiths heads that it does'nt need programming, does any you guys know any decent locksmiths that know what they are doing/saying? I only want it cutting!(in Leicester)

Cheers
